What You Will Contribute:
 

The Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technical expertise and sales, ensuring that customers, particularly municipalities, receive innovative and effective solutions tailored to their needs. This position demands a deep understanding of both the technical aspects of products and the complexities of industry solutions, allowing for hands-on engagement with products and providing expert-level support throughout the sales process. The Municipal Sales Engineer works closely with the sales team to design and implement highly technical solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate for this role will be based in Arizona, Nevada or California.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide in-depth technical expertise during the pre-sales process, including solution design, product demonstrations, and technical presentations. Ensure that solutions meet customer requirements and align with the company's product offerings.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the company's full product line, including software and hardware solutions, as well as competitive offerings. Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to provide cutting-edge solutions to customers.

  • Engage directly with customer to understand their technical needs and challenges. Provide hands-on assistance with product implementation, troubleshooting and optimization to ensure customer satisfaction and successful solution deployment.

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed technical proposals, bid responses and RFP submissions. Ensure that all technical aspects of the proposals are accurate and align with customer expectations.

  • Conduct training sessions for both internal teams and external customers to ensure a deep understanding of products and solutions. Provide technical mentorship to junior sales staff and assist in their professional development.

  • Provide post-sales technical support as needed, helping customers troubleshoot issues and optimize their systems. Ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation and maintain ongoing customer relationships to support long-term success.

  • Work closely with Solution Architects to ensure that the proposed solutions are technically sound and feasible. Collaborate on complex projects that require a deep understanding of both technical and sales aspects.

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and technical seminars. Act as a technical ambassador, showcasing the company's products and solutions to potential customers and partners.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business Management or a related field is required.

  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, engineering, or a related field within the water/wastewater or utility industry.

  • Extensive experience with technical product implementation and customer support is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and technical sales tools.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to water quality and utility solutions.

  • Excellent communications, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decision-makers at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, technical environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to meet with customers and support sales activities.

  • Initiative: Takes proactive steps to engage customers, solve problems and drive sales success.

The target base salary for this role is $105,000-$115,000 plus sales incentive plan.
