The Microsoft SQL Database Administrator will join an UltraViolet Cyber Dedicated Defense team at one of our premier customers in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
The position will be onsite 3 days per week in Los Angeles, CA, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, though there will be flexibility as permitted.
Work You'll Do:
- Database Hardening: Implement database hardening techniques to protect against unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
- Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Azure Integration: Manage and optimize Azure SQL Databases, leveraging cloud capabilities to enhance performance and scalability.
- Security Administration: Implement and manage security protocols using Active Directory and Entra ID to control and monitor database access.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexing to maintain system efficiency.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss and ensure data integrity.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to design and optimize database schemas and queries.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
What You Have:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of Active Directory and Entra ID for database authentication and security.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex database issues.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate are a plus.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
- Cloud Services: Experience with other Azure services and their integration with SQL databases.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools like Jira or Confluence.
- You live in the Los Angeles, CA Area. The position will be onsite 3 days per week in Los Angeles, CA, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, though there will be flexibility as permitted.
