About Fay

Fay is a 3-sided AI platform redefining preventative care with a b2b2c business in a box. We’re one of the fastest growing companies in tech and the fastest growing company in wellness history. We combine clinical expertise with smart systems. The result? More affordable, effective care for the people who need it most.

Behind the platform is a Marvel team of builders deeply connected to the problem we’re solving. We pride ourselves on attracting superstar talent — the kind that’s driven the best growth-to-burn metrics since early Airbnb, Stripe, and WhatsApp. Those aren’t our words, though. That’s straight from our investors at General Catalyst, Forerunner, 1984, and Goldman Sachs.

If you're excited to build at the intersection of AI, healthcare, and real-world impact — we’d love to meet you.

About this Role

We're hunting for a Motion Designer who gets genuinely excited about making pixels dance – especially when those pixels help people transform their health! You'll be the creative visionary behind animations that don't just surprise and delight, but actually motivate people to stick with their health goals and celebrate every victory along their wellness journey.

While our mobile app will be your main canvas for creating magic, you'll also bring Fay's motion language to life across every touchpoint – from website animations that convert visitors into health-focused users, to social media content that inspires healthy habits, to marketing videos that make wellness feel achievable and exciting. Think progress animations that make hitting daily targets feel like winning a game, ad campaigns that move people to take action on their health, celebration moments that turn healthy habits into shareable joy, and video content that breaks down complex health concepts into digestible, engaging stories.

Ready to use your motion design superpowers across every platform to genuinely improve people's lives and help them fall in love with their health journey?

What you’ll be doing

  • Own Motion Design Standards: Build a motion language that makes health progress feel rewarding and achievable – creating guidelines that turn mundane health journey into moments people actually look forward to experiencing
  • Create Premium Assets: Design and animate sophisticated 3D graphics that showcase our brand's aesthetic and make our mobile experience engaging and fun to use
  • Implement Interactive Animations: Build production-ready animations using Lottie and Rive for seamless integration across web and mobile platforms
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with engineers to implement animations, haptic feedback, and sound design
  • Technical Integration: Work directly with development teams to ensure smooth implementation and optimal performance

What we're looking for

  • Motion Design Mastery: 4+ years of motion design experience with a portfolio showcasing diverse styles and technical excellence
  • 3D & 2D Animation Expertise: Proficiency in After Effects, Cinema 4D, Blender, or similar 2D/3D software with a strong eye for beautiful illustration
  • Implementation Skills: Hands-on experience with Lottie, Rive, and After Effects for production-ready animations
  • Technical Collaboration: Experience working with engineers on animation implementation, understanding technical constraints and optimization
  • Sound & Haptic Integration: Knowledge of how motion, sound, and haptic feedback work together to create cohesive user experiences
  • AI-Augmented Workflow: You're excited to experiment with AI tools to create more personalized, encouraging animations
  • Impeccable Taste and Brand Intuition: Ability to translate brand values into motion language and maintain consistency across touchpoints

✨ Bonus Points:

  • Examples of motion design work similar to Duolingo, Finch, MonopolyGo or similar (gamified interfaces)
  • Background in developing design systems or motion guidelines
  • Knowledge of mobile-first animation principles
  • Experience with performance optimization for web and mobile

How to apply

If you’re excited about shaping the way people experience the Fay brand and products, and you have the portfolio to prove it, we’d love to hear from you. Please share your resume and portfolio with examples of your best work

The best companies are made of the best people. There’s no shortage of work ahead, but we stay balanced and look forward to celebrating our wins as a team.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
