About Nen Creative

Nen Creative partners with tech startups to launch bold ideas into the world, creating the brands, products, and stories that fuel their growth.

Since 2022, we've partnered with some of the world's top founders and institutions, including Amazon, Pear VC, Andreessen Horowitz, Mercor, Context Inc, Netic, Listen Labs, Tech Week, Mantis VC, Spur, Flora, and more.

We're growing fast and looking for great people to join us.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for a Motion Design Lead to help us scale the motion practice at Nen.

The work spans launch videos, commercials, product explainers, social content, and brand campaigns for our roster of tech clients. You'll work across 2D, UI, typography, compositing, and edit-driven animation, owning hands-on craft on the most ambitious projects while also guiding the rest of the motion team.

You'll partner closely with our producers, editors, designers, and directors to bring projects from concept to final delivery. Some weeks you'll be deep in a flagship animation yourself; others you'll be running critique, refining a teammate's cut, or building the templates and systems the team will use on the next ten projects.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving studio. We need someone with strong taste, real range, and the experience to hold a high creative bar across a team while still shipping their own work at the highest level.

What You'll Do
  • Lead motion design across a range of client projects including launch videos, commercials, product explainers, social content, and brand campaigns

  • Create high quality motion work from concept through final delivery across 2D, UI, typography, compositing, and edit-driven animation

  • Help define the visual direction, pacing, transitions, and motion systems for projects

  • Work closely with producers, editors, designers, and directors to bring ideas to life

  • Review and provide feedback to other motion designers to maintain a high creative standard across projects

  • Help guide and mentor the motion team through critiques, collaboration, and workflow support

  • Build scalable templates, systems, and processes that improve consistency and efficiency across projects

  • Balance speed and quality while working across multiple projects and deadlines

  • Push work beyond the obvious. We value people with strong taste, attention to detail, and a desire to refine until the work feels exceptional

  • Help improve the overall motion pipeline, organization, and creative process as the team scales

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of experience in motion design, ideally across both product/UI motion and brand or marketing work

  • Track record of leading or mentoring other motion designers

  • A strong reel demonstrating range across launch films, brand work, product motion, and social

  • Expert in After Effects and Figma

  • Fluency in at least one 3D tool (Cinema 4D, Blender, Spline, or similar)

  • Real visual design fundamentals — type, layout, color, composition, timing

  • Strong opinions about easing, timing, and restraint, and the ability to defend them in a room of smart people

  • Comfortable as both an IC and a leader. Can ship the hardest sequence yourself and unblock a teammate in the same week

  • Experience in studio, agency, or fast-moving startup environments

  • Self-directed and remote-ready. Can run a critique on Zoom, give clear written feedback in Figma, and keep a team aligned across time zones

  • Calm, organized, and dependable under pressure

Why Join Nen
  • Be part of a small, fast-growing creative studio trusted by world-class startups and investors

  • Work directly with the partners and creative leadership on ambitious, high-impact projects

  • Define and scale the motion practice as we build the team out

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), PTO, and company holidays

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
