Job Description
BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems group in Norfolk Virginia is seeking to hire a Lead MK 38 mod 2/3 Gun System Field Service Technician. The selected candidate will be required to provides support and continuity to customers and users on a world-wide basis to achieve Mk 38 Gun Weapon System (GWS) program readiness. Support includes technical assistance/advice, user formal/informal on the job training (OJT), technical data collection/reporting. Capacity to fill the role as the operating systems expert, the first point of contact for field problem identification and accident investigations. Provides technical assistance during testing, troubleshooting, repairing, storing and assistance in shipping the Mk 38 GWS and their respective components during transition, OJT training, and unit hand-off. Training consists of system operation, assembly and subassembly troubleshooting, component/system fault isolation, removal/installation and repair. Provides updates to external and internal customers on job progress to include schedule and scope.
May lead teams of 3-5 technicians at various remote sites.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years work experience in the mechanical/electrical/electronics field of relevant military products, or Associate's degree, or military school training; plus additional 6 years work experience in the mechanical/electrical/electronics field of relevant military products.
-- Experience leading and managing Mk 38 GWS projects.
-- Knowledge of military maintenance systems (all levels of repair).
-- Knowledge of appropriate technical manuals and engineering data.
-- Must be able to interpret and use all types of engineering drawings and schematics.
-- Detail understanding of system troubleshooting techniques.
-- Familiar with the use and operation of TMDE (Test Measurement) type diagnostic equipment.
-- Technically proficient in Mk 38 GWS operation, mechanics and electronics. Experience in the mechanical/electronic field of relevant military products; technical knowledge depth must be very through.
-- Basic computer skills.
-- Understanding of the military structure.
-- Proficiently use all types of hand tools, shop tools, including micrometers, depth gages and finish gages.
-- Use all types of power tools, lifting devices, carrying or support equipment in a safe/sure manner.
-- Be able to develop and present Mk 38 GWS and component formal and informal training programs.
-- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
-- Must be able to travel internationally.
-- Must be able to maintain a Secret security clearance.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $67734 - $108375
