Job Summary:

As a Senior Consultant within our Digital Workplace Practice, you will lead the design and delivery of Microsoft Modern Work solutions, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, and endpoint solutions with Microsoft Intune. You will guide clients through discovery, architecture, migration planning, execution, and post-migration stabilization across identity, messaging, collaboration, and endpoints. This hands-on consulting role combines technical delivery, client advisory, and team mentorship to help organizations integrate or separate workplaces while protecting data, maintaining business continuity, and minimizing disruption to users.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with statement of work development and validation as needed.
  • Lead client discovery, workshops, and readiness assessments across Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and endpoint management to define Modern Work requirements, M&A objectives, migration scope, dependencies, integration or separation timelines, and business continuity needs.
  • Develop migration strategies, effort estimates, workload sequencing, migration waves, cutover runbooks, and rollback or recovery plans with clear assumptions, exclusions, and acceptance criteria. Evaluate migration tools against workload coverage, limitations, client constraints, and cost.
  • Develop target-state recommendations and architecture diagrams for Microsoft 365 tenant consolidation and separation, including identity alignment, hybrid dependencies, coexistence, domain transitions, access controls, and endpoint integration, in partnership with security and infrastructure teams.
  • Lead hands-on migrations of mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, SharePoint sites, and Teams content, coordinating engineering teams and vendors while managing permissions, data integrity, and workload-specific limitations.
  • Configure Microsoft 365 services and coordinate identity transitions, including Microsoft Entra ID, directory synchronization, and application access.
  • Design and implement endpoint solutions with Microsoft Intune, including Windows Autopilot provisioning, device configuration and compliance policies, application deployment and protection, endpoint security policies, and Windows update management. Plan device enrollment and management transitions for M&A integrations and tenant migrations, minimizing disruption to users.
  • Execute pilots, migration testing, cutover validation, and troubleshooting to verify data, mail flow, sign-in, collaboration, device access, and security controls; provide post-migration stabilization and operational handoff.
  • Partner with project managers to define workstreams, resource needs, milestones, and cutover schedules, aligning technical delivery with client communications, service desk readiness, and user adoption activities.
  • Manage technical risks, dependencies, and scope changes, including licensing, administrative access, application integrations, data retention requirements, and transition service agreement deadlines where applicable.
  • Communicate decisions, progress, risks, and user impacts to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Assist with development and improvement of reusable migration playbooks, automation, packaged solutions, standardized templates, methodologies, and delivery standards.
  • Mentor other team members and assist them with technology skillset growth.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to mentor other team members and develop their skillsets.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate appropriately, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment, handling multiple simultaneous engagements.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, design, implementation, and migration across Exchange Online, OneDrive, and Teams, including Microsoft 365 licensing dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience delivering Microsoft Intune solutions for Windows endpoints, including Windows Autopilot, device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, application packaging and deployment, endpoint security, update policies, PKI, and Cloud PKI. Ability to assess existing device management environments and troubleshoot provisioning, policy, application, and access issues during endpoint modernization and tenant transitions.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell for Microsoft 365 administration, reporting, and migration automation, and familiarity with Microsoft Graph.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Quest and AvePoint is required as the primary migration toolset; familiarity with ForensIT, BitTitan, and PowerSync Pro is preferred for use as secondary tools as project and client needs dictate.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, directory synchronization, UPN and domain changes, authentication, Conditional Access, and their impact on migration sequencing and user access.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Microsoft Modern Work consulting, Microsoft 365 engineering, or enterprise migrations, including technical leadership of complex client engagements.
  • Demonstrated delivery of Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or enterprise consolidation, including discovery, coexistence, workload and identity sequencing, cutover, and post-migration support.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications in Microsoft 365 administration, identity and access, endpoint management, or collaboration.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
