Manager Lab Data Engineering - Business Intelligence (REMOTE-USA)
The Data Engineering team at Myriad Genetics empowers business outcomes through data-driven insights. As Manager of Data Engineering for Lab Ops, you will lead a team focused on supporting laboratory operations across product lines. You’ll collaborate closely with lab management and self-service users to deliver high-impact analytics and reporting solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Looker, strong SQL skills, and a solid understanding of lab workflows.
What You’ll Do
• Build, lead, and coach a high-performing Lab Data Engineering team.
• Drive the development and execution of Myriad’s Data products strategy in partnership with senior leaders.
• Act as a liaison between lab operations and technical teams to support metrics, dashboards, and reporting.
• Lead end-to-end analytics projects—from requirements gathering to production and post-launch support.
• Champion self-service analytics adoption and ensure transparency and quality in data outputs.
• Advocate for best practices in data usage, modeling, and visualization.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements for analysts and engineers.
• Maintain accessible and comprehensive documentation for stakeholders.
• Actively mentor and coach junior analysts, guide on technical skill, analytical approaches, and career development.
• Ensure rich documentation exists and is easily accessible to internal stakeholders.
• Ability to meet with users to understand and document requirements for consumption by analysts and engineers.
What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in analytics or data-driven decision-making roles.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Proven expertise in Looker and SQL, with hands-on experience in lab data engineering or operations.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to influence and collaborate across teams.
• Experience with Snowflake, DBT, or similar data platforms is required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
• Background in Healthcare Finance, Healthcare Billing or Prior Authorization. A knack for deciphering existing queries & understanding source systems.
