Job Overview
We are seeking a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Engineer to lead the design, integration, optimization, and deployment of MES solutions within our automotive manufacturing operations. This role bridges the gap between IT systems, production operations, and engineering teams to ensure MES implementations enable efficiency, quality, traceability, and compliance across EV manufacturing lines. The MES Software Engineer will oversee projects from requirements gathering to go-live, ensuring alignment with production needs, digital manufacturing strategies, and industry best practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Solution Design & Implementation: Design, architect, and lead the implementation of Siemens Opcenter MES solutions. This includes developing technical specifications, system blueprints, and implementation roadmaps tailored to production needs.
- System Configuration & Development: Configure, customize, and deploy MES platforms to meet manufacturing process requirements. This involves using Siemens Opcenter Execution Discrete and related technologies like Mendix, HTML5, and JavaScript to build workflows, microflows, and UI components.
- System Integration & Data Management: Integrate MES with enterprise systems such as ERP (NetSuite), PLM (Catia/Delmia), WMS, and SCADA. This includes designing and implementing automation, defining system interfaces, and acting as a source-data expert for all related data applications. You'll also integrate manufacturing systems with databases, PLCs, HMIs, and IoT devices.
- Project Leadership & Support: Lead and support MES projects from conception to deployment. This involves providing guidance on best practices, evaluating member projects, ensuring system scalability, and performing system testing (unit, integration, and user acceptance). You'll also support manufacturing process change management.
- Analysis & Optimization: Work closely with manufacturing engineers to analyze workflows, identify requirements, and translate them into technical specifications. Design solutions for production tracking, quality management, and inventory control, supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create detailed solution architecture documents, configuration guides, and operational manuals. Design and implement real-time manufacturing dashboards and reporting systems.
Who You Are:
- Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, physics, materials science, mathematics, or a similar STEM field.
- 5+ years of experience in MES implementation, with at least 5 years focused on Siemens Opcenter (Core/Discrete) MES (formerly Camstar or Simatic IT).
- Proven track record of delivering complex MES projects in manufacturing environments (e.g., aerospace, automotive, electronics).
- Experience with Opcenter architecture (Web app, REST services, messaging queue & Database) and supporting technology stacks.
- Experience integrating Opcenter with external systems using technologies like T4CEP/CN4T, REST APIs, or SQL Queries.
- Familiarity with manufacturing standards (ISA-95, Industry 4.0), lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comprehensive Health, Dental & Vision (HDV) – 100% employee covered
- Early-stage Stock Options
- Robust Retirement Savings (401k, HSA, FSA)
- Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) & Parental Leave
- Annual Vacation Bonus
- Wellness & Fertility Benefits
- Cell Phone Stipend
- Complimentary Meals & Stocked Kitchens
