Remote/Hybrid: This role is based REMOTE but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Warren, MI - Cadillac Tower you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum. This job may be eligible for relocation.
The Merchandise Buyer, Apparel & Lifestyle will own inventory and product strategy for GM's branded merchandise program, ensuring assortments across Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Buick, and GM corporate are trend-forward, commercially viable, and brand-elevating.
This role combines the eye of a fashion buyer with the discipline of a merchant, accountable for buy planning, open-to-buy (OTB), vendor sourcing, reorders, pricing, and margin optimization across apparel, accessories, and lifestyle categories. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of fashion and lifestyle markets, strong vendor relationships, and proven experience in building elevated collections that connect brands with culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Product & Assortment Strategy
  • Act as a fashion buyer, identifying trend-forward product opportunities informed by runway, retail, and cultural movements.

  • Partner with Brand Leads to translate creative direction into balanced seasonal buy plans that drive both brand fandom and profitability.

  • Source new materials, silhouettes, and product ideas that elevate GM's positioning beyond traditional merch.

Vendor & Production Management
  • Source and vet fashion and lifestyle vendors and manufacturers to ensure innovation, quality, and alignment with brand standards.

  • Negotiate vendor terms and manage production timelines to deliver collections on-time and on-budget.

  • Oversee third-party developed programs, ensuring commercial performance through effective buy planning and replenishment.

  • Manage Brand-exclusive and co-branded product collaborations from concept through delivery.

Inventory, Pricing & OTB Accountability
  • Own OTB budgets and buy planning across categories.

  • Monitor stock health, manage size curves, and trigger reorders to balance demand and supply.

  • Set and execute pricing and markdown strategies that maximize turn while preserving brand equity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the eCommerce Lead to align buys with digital campaigns, site merchandising, and sell-through levers.

  • Partner with Brand Leads and Creative to ensure elevated product presentation and packaging.

  • Collaborate with Finance to align OTB and inventory plans with broader business targets.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferred in merchandising, fashion business, or product development.

  • 5+ years of experience as a Buyer in fashion, lifestyle, or consumer product categories.

  • Strong fashion sensibility with proven ability to spot trends and translate them into commercially successful assortments.

  • Deep vendor sourcing and negotiation experience, ideally with apparel and lifestyle categories.

  • Demonstrated success delivering OTB, turn, and margin goals.

  • Proficiency in Shopify, Excel/Sheets (VLOOKUPs, pivots), and digital product setup.

  • Passion for elevating brand perception through product curation and storytelling.

Compensation:
  • The expected base compensation for this role is: ($94,800-$151,400). Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
