About the Role

The Path to Purchase Institute is looking for an energetic, results-driven Membership Sales Representative to drive new member acquisition and support the growth of our vibrant community across brands, retailers, agencies, and solution providers.

This role is heavily focused on outbound business development, relationship building, and consultative selling. As our ideal candidate, you will proactively identify and recruit new member companies while helping existing members maximize the value of their membership through our events, proprietary research, content, and networking opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

New Member Acquisition (75%)

  • Prospecting: Proactively prospect and recruit new member companies across retailer, CPG brand, agency, and solution provider categories.
  • Outbound Outreach: Conduct consistent multi-channel outreach via phone, email, LinkedIn, industry events, and referrals.
  • Consultative Selling: Use a consultative sales approach to identify business challenges and align Institute membership solutions to client needs.
  • Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospective member companies while accurately tracking activity and forecasting in our CRM.
  • Presentations: Deliver compelling virtual and in-person membership presentations and discovery meetings.
  • Territory Strategy: Develop long-term account and territory strategies to drive consistent growth.

Member Retention & Engagement (15%)

  • Upselling & Renewals: Support annual membership renewal efforts and identify opportunities for account upgrades.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain ongoing communication with assigned members to ensure high levels of satisfaction and platform engagement.
  • Value Optimization: Encourage member participation in Institute events, webinars, research, and networking programs.
  • Onboarding Transitions: Facilitate seamless introductions of new members to the Membership Services/Success team to guarantee a smooth onboarding experience.

Industry Participation & Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)

  • Event Representation: Attend Institute and broader industry events to network, build relationships, and uncover new sales opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Work closely with editorial, events, marketing, and success teams to champion member success.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather and share market feedback to continuously refine and improve our membership offerings.
  • Industry Acumen: Stay informed on major industry trends across retail media, commerce marketing, shopper marketing, and retail innovation.

Requirements

Experience: At least two years of experience in B2B sales, membership sales, media sales, or business development.

Sales Excellence: Proven consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Communication: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills with the confidence to pitch C-suite executives.

Organization: High degree of organization with a track record of consistent follow-up and CRM pipeline management.

Collaboration: A team player who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Industry Knowledge: Prior experience or familiarity with the retail, CPG, shopper marketing, or retail media industries is a strong plus.

Travel: Willingness to travel to select company and industry events as needed.
