POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary function of this position is to drive improvements for equipment reliability to ensure it is designed, installed, maintained, and operated such that they perform the function they were designed to perform with the highest degree of reliability. This position supports an Operating Area Team for any equipment reliability issue and collaborates with all other departments on a daily basis. When equipment performs poorly, this engineer will be responsible for leading the team in developing and implementing corrective measures including long-term solutions. This activity will include developing Capital and Expense Budget items for consideration by Management. The Area Reliability Engineer position reports to the Reliability Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts Monthly Area Team Reliability meetings to progress reliability items
Stewards of Equipment data to help drive projects/upgrade justifications
Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting support in resolving design, operation, and maintenance issues for both rotating and fixed equipment within all assigned area teams. Contacts internal and external experts as needed.
Utilizes reliability tools such as reliability analytics, failure evaluations, and cost analysis to improve the reliability of rotating and fixed equipment systems.
Writes PRFs for reliability improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and similar initiatives, including financial justification through life cycle cost analysis, and facilitates DSP development. Champions MOC as appropriate.
Develops & reviews turnaround work lists and scopes for critical equipment.
Helps establish equipment monitoring plans and control limits.
Ensures equipment repairs meet or exceed OEM specifications.
Conducts post-audits to measure the effectiveness of significant reliability-related projects and activities.
Provides technical assistance for decision-making on repair solutions during turnarounds and unplanned equipment outages.
Reviews corporate specifications for potential improvement based on industry and site-specific experience as appropriate.
Provides technical expertise and support to capital project development.
Occasional weekend duty will be required a few times per year.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Zero (0) years or more of experience required.
A Valid Driver's License required.
Preferred:
Working knowledge of API 571 "Damage Mechanisms Affecting Fixed Equipment in the Refining Industry"
Knowledge of API 579 Fitness for Service (Level 1 and Level 2 analyses)
Awareness and general understanding of maintenance/reliability management systems including SAP, APM; API RBI Software.
General knowledge in the design and application of various types of Mechanical equipment at the refinery.
Knowledge/experience with Refinery Coker Units.
Working knowledge of all applicable industry and company standards (RSPs and Core Specifications).-internal
Experience using the following computer programs or similar: Compress/Plant Manager/Ceasar.
