Mechanical Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

SkyOS, our industry-first universal operating system for flight, provides any airplane or helicopter with a fly-by-wire flight management solution that significantly reduces the complexity of flying. Skyryse One, our first production aircraft powered by SkyOS, was unveiled in 2024 and features the simplest, safest, and most intuitive flight controls in general aviation.

Intern, Mechanical Engineering, Design - El Segundo, CA
The design team at Skyryse is looking for a candidate pursuing an engineering degree for an internship in our design/interior group at Skyryse. This role is going to require someone who is a self-starter and can pace themselves while giving check-in to various executives within the company.  The internship will consist of a project to complete (12 weeks) over the course of the internship; as well as some additional tasks and responsibilities over the course of the internship.  This is a full-time onsite opportunity based out of El Segundo,CA. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a product (determined by the team) through procurement (including documentation)
• Build seating bucks, simulators and other properties with the team 
• Creating and modifying engineering CAD and drawings for parts and assemblies and creating tooling to aid with manufacturing
• Leverage your creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills to push the boundaries of design and innovation in aviation
• Work cross-functionally with other Skyryse teams to accomplish project goals
• Occasionally participate in design efforts outside of your area of expertise as necessary and as your skillset dictates 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working towards a bachelor, masters or PhD in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, industrial design, and/or roles that have background in any of the above 
• Graduating between December 2026 and June 2028
• Proven ability to use Solidworks and/or CATIA
• Demonstrated analytical thinking - using logic and reason
• Demonstrated conceptual thinking - creative and strategic
• Wide interest/knowledge of creative industry
• Ability to comprehend aviation experiential technology and its foray into general consumer electronics 
• Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects
