As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.

Job Responsibilities

Spearheads research and development of new technologies and ensures that newly created processes, designs, and/or methodologies are incorporated within Applied Materials, as appropriate

Specific responsibility for mechanical systems and equipment design function, technical mentoring as required within the engineering group, technical leadership for key areas of responsibility, and budget adherence.  Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects/programs

Ensures customer satisfaction via on time delivery of product releases in accordance with predetermined requirements and prompt resolution of significantly complex issues of complex scope 

Ensures the integration of engineering resources with cross functional teams to meet product goals of complex scope

Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding significantly complex engineering issues for entire range of products

Reviews product requirements and contributes expertise and judgment throughout the product development processes

Ensures that all projects and programs assigned are completed in accordance with predetermined requirements, with specific attention to product/process specifications, project/programs costs, resource utilization, and timeless completion

Establishes operational objectives and assignments, and effectively delegate assignments to subordinate staff.  Responsible for professional development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.

Candidate attributes

  • The ideal candidate will have a highly innovative mindset and accomplishments. Along with a demonstrated technical base in mechanical engineering disciples like thermal, plasma, fluid, design.

  • Very high level of ownership

  • Masters degree or higher in Mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • Semiconductor industry experience is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Guides, influences and persuades others internally in related areas or externally

Position requires understanding of Applied Materials global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with these standards at all times. This includes demonstrating the highest level of ethical conduct reflecting Applied Materials' core values.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
