What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring for a Mechanical Designer (remote). In this position, you will work in a team environment with engineers, project managers and other design team members to ensure successful product builds. You will be responsible for providing drafting and design support for engineering departments by drafting and/or some design responsibility for assigned projects. You will also have the opportunity for CAD deliverables to the customer, layout/packaging coordination, release coordination (using EPIC), and CAD studies. This is a remote position for candidates based in the US. US citizenship and/or permanent residency is required for this position, we sponsorship is not provided.

How you will do it

  • Proficient knowledge of 3D design software (CREO) and general knowledge of 3d Design Intent Concepts

  • Continually monitor design project to identify potential risk and adjusts when/where necessary.

  • Possesses a high level of mechanical design understanding, demonstrated through tool-based tasks such as:

  • System or large assembly layouts

  • Sheet Metal construction and DFM

  • Drawing Creation and Drawing Best Practices

  • PDM System related file management processes

  • Ability to work with ambiguity regarding design specifications; researching and communicating with various departments to resolve gaps in Scope and effort

  • Effectively communicates with teams across various business units to resolve problems

  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of manufacturing processes and develop designs that are well aligned with manufacturing capabilities

  • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of design procedures such as retrieving and apply information from engineering standards and schematics, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings and Bills of Material

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $30.00 - $40.00/hr (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
