About Talex.ai

Talex.ai is building the expert workforce layer for the AI future — connecting top domain professionals with frontier AI teams to deliver high-quality, human-aligned data at scale. We combine a talent marketplace, smart task routing, and agent-powered infrastructure to improve how AI systems learn and evolve.

We’re not automating humans. We’re empowering experts. At Talex.ai, your mathematical expertise shapes AI systems that reason, innovate, and solve problems like human experts.

The Role

We are seeking recent Mathematics PhDs or early-career researchers to contribute to groundbreaking AI projects. You will design and develop challenging mathematical problems that train state-of-the-art large language models. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise to real-world AI applications while growing your research impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Problem Design: Develop original, high-quality mathematical problems testing reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Solution Verification: Ensure every problem and solution is accurate, rigorous, and conceptually deep.
  • Difficulty Scaling: Refine problems across multiple complexity levels to optimize learning and engagement.
  • Applied Scenarios: Craft problems reflecting authentic applications, connecting theory with practice.
  • Quality Assurance: Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to mathematical principles.

RequirementsWhat We’re Looking For
  • PhD in Applied or Pure Mathematics from a top-tier university (recent graduates welcome).
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-creation skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Comfortable working asynchronously in a fully remote environment.

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have experience creating competition-level or advanced mathematical problems.
  • Have exposure to AI/ML research or data annotation projects.

BenefitsWhy Join Talex.ai?
  • Immediate impact: Shape AI systems from day one with your mathematical expertise.
  • Global community: Collaborate with top-tier PhDs and domain experts worldwide.
  • Flexible schedule: Work remotely, 10–20 hrs/week (up to 40 hrs), on your own timetable.
  • Professional growth: Gain hands-on experience at the frontier of AI while building your research profile.
  • Empowerment over automation: Your skills aren’t being replaced — they are defining the next generation of AI.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
