Butcher Power Products (BPP) designs and manufactures mission‑critical and industrial power solutions for essential infrastructure nationwide. Headquartered in Sacramento, CA, our teams collaborate closely across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to build reliable, high‑quality systems and take pride in delivering work that truly matters.
Position Summary:

The Master Scheduler / Demand Planner owns BPP's rolling 3–12-months demand signal and translates it into a master schedule that supports customer delivery commitments in our engineered-to-order environment. The role operates pre-Purchase Order and pre-Sales Order: anticipating demand, sizing long-lead engineering and supply requirements, and validating capacity before commitments are made. This work feeds the post-PO execution owned by Operations Planning.

The role reports to the Vice President of Operations with a strong working relationship with commercial team. Operations holds accountability to capacity, capability, and supply realities. Commercial provides direct access to the pipeline and demand signal quality.

Core Responsibilities:

Demand Planning:
  • Own the rolling 3-12 months demand forecast, integrating historical bookings, opportunity pipeline, and Commercial Business input into a single consensus demand signal.
  • Translate opportunity-stage pipeline data from the Commercial Business team into probability-weighted demand by product family, configuration, and customer segment.
  • Lead the regular Demand Review with Commercial Business leadership to validate assumptions and lock the committed forecast that enters SI&OP.
  • Track and report forecast accuracy and bias by horizon, product family, and customer; drive root-cause when accuracy drifts.
  • Challenge Commercial projections and Operations constraints with data when either is not supported by the numbers.

Master Scheduling & Supply Alignment:
  • Translate the consensus demand plan into a Master Schedule establishing monthly and quarterly output targets by product family and facility.
  • Run Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) against engineering hours, critical work centers, long-lead supply, and key sub-tier suppliers to confirm the plan is achievable before commitments are made.
  • Identify capacity gaps and surpluses 3–18 months out and recommend specific actions: capital, headcount, outsource, sequencing, or commercial action.
  • Manage long-lead material and engineering pre-commitments where forecast confidence supports it, in coordination with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance.
  • Facilitate the regular SI&OP / IBP cycle end-to-end: Demand Review, Supply Review, Reconciliation, and Executive SI&OP.
  • Prepare and present the SI&OP deck to executive leadership, surfacing required decisions and trade-offs by scenario.
  • Drive a single set of numbers across Commercial Business, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Maintain SI&OP governance: cadence, attendance, inputs, outputs, decision logs, and action follow-through.

Capacity & Scenario Planning:
  • Build and maintain capacity models for critical constraints: engineering, key work centers and bays, test and inspection, and strategic suppliers.
  • Run what-if scenarios for major opportunities, new product introductions, customer schedule shifts, and supply disruptions; quantify impact on delivery, revenue, and cost.
  • Provide the Commercial Business team with capacity-aware lead-time guidance for quoting and order intake.

Data, Reporting & System Stewardship:
  • Partner with the System Data team to build and maintain SI&OP, demand, and capacity dashboards in D365 and Power BI.
  • Own the integrity of master scheduling data in D365: planning bills, planning calendars, lead times, lot sizing, capacity definitions, and forecast records.
  • Maintain the SI&OP KPI set: Forecast Accuracy, Forecast Bias, Demand Plan Attainment, Master Schedule Attainment, Capacity Utilization, and pre-PO inventory exposure.

Boundary with Operations Planning:
  • Operate pre-PO / pre-SO; hand off a validated, capacity-confirmed plan to Operations Planning for post-PO execution.
  • Partner with the Operations Planning Manager on schedule attainment, escalations, and learnings that feed back into the master schedule.
  • Master Scheduling sets the envelope. Manufacturing retains authority over bay assignment and production floor direction. Operations Planning owns post-PO WIP coordination.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • 5+ years in demand planning, master scheduling, or SI&OP in a manufacturing environment; ETO or complex configured-to-order experience preferred.
  • Direct experience leading or heavily contributing to a formal SI&OP / IBP process across Commercial and Operations functions.
  • Hands-on proficiency with an enterprise ERP planning suite; D365 (Microsoft Dynamics 365) preferred.
  • Advanced Excel; working proficiency with Power BI.
  • Statistical forecasting methods, regression, and demand modeling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business Analytics, or related field — or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Preferred:
  • CPIM or CSCP certification from ASCM (formerly APICS).
  • Direct experience with D365 advanced planning, master scheduling, or planning optimization modules.
  • SI&OP / IBP experience in a project-driven, low-volume / high-mix ETO business.
  • Experience building Power BI dashboards in partnership with a data engineering / BI team.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
