Core Digital Media is a leading digital marketer and provider of online solutions that enable people to save money and make smarter financial decisions.

 

We’re currently hard at work laying the foundation for an exciting new personal finance experience and looking for well-rounded content editors to join the team.

 

As an editor, your primary priority will be to review, fact-check, and edit engaging, accurate, unbiased, SEO-optimized guides, blogs, and other forms of written content. You’ll be part project manager, part creative strategist, and very much hands-on throughout the production process.

 

Please note: This is NOT a video editor role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Own your assigned articles from concept to completion, which includes:
  • Managing freelancers and assigning briefs to writers
  • Reviewing drafts and providing actionable feedback
  • Fact-checking and editing meticulously
  • Sourcing images and packaging everything up in WordPress
  • Performing QA post-publish
  • Ensure all content adheres to SEO best practices, Associated Press style, and brand guidelines, as well as legal compliance.
  • Research competitors, SEO keyword trends, and analytics to inform your brainstorming and editing decisions.
  • Collaborate with different teams — including SEO, Marketing, Legal, Video, Social, Product, and Design — as needed on editorial projects.
  • Track trends in the digital landscape, keep an ear out for new modes of storytelling to test, and suggest ways to optimize our current content offerings to support the continual growth of Core Digital Media’s web properties.
  • Assist in-house and freelance writers in honing their craft and storytelling abilities.
  • Take on other responsibilities as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of editorial experience within the personal finance space for a digital publication
  • A strong understanding of SEO best practices and at least 1 year of experience actively optimizing written content for SEO as an editor
  • Familiarity with online reporting tools (Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar) and keyword research tools (SEMrush, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, or similar)
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to work independently, manage up, and clearly communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, taking initiative, getting resourceful, and driving solutions
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems
  • An idea generator who stays on top of trends and loves finding creative ways to liven up traditional SEO content
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with a collaboration platform like Monday.com, Trello, DivvyHQ, or Kapost
  • Basic HTML experience
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Journalism, English, Marketing) or the equivalent in relevant professional experience
  • Copywriting experience is a plus
