The Opportunity

ModernFi is seeking a Marketing Manager to establish and lead our marketing function during a critical growth phase. In this highly visible role, you will develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, lead generation, and sales enablement. As an early marketing hire, you will wear multiple hats – strategist, content creator, digital marketer, and analyst – while building the foundation for our marketing operations. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape how ModernFi communicates its value proposition to financial institutions.

The RoleResponsibilities

  • Develop and execute ModernFi's marketing strategy, including positioning, messaging, and channel strategy.

  • Create compelling content across multiple formats (website copy, blog posts, emails, social media, sales collateral, case studies, etc.).

  • Coordinate and execute marketing programs including webinars, executive dinners, industry events, and digital campaigns.

  • Build and manage our digital presence across website, social media, and email marketing channels.

  • Design and produce marketing collateral (alongside external agencies and contractors) including presentations, one-pagers, and newsletters that clearly communicate our value proposition.

  • Collaborate closely with sales to develop materials that support the sales process and accelerate deals.

  • Establish metrics to measure marketing effectiveness and continuously optimize based on data.

  • Manage relationships with external agencies and contractors as needed.

  • Stay current on fintech industry trends and competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies.

About You

  • Proven experience building and executing marketing strategies in a B2B environment.

  • Strong content creation skills with an ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling messaging.

  • Experience with digital marketing channels and marketing automation tools.

  • Data-driven approach to marketing with experience using analytics to measure and improve campaigns.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across departments.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities may shift quickly.

  • 3+ years of marketing experience, preferably in fintech, B2B SaaS, or financial services.

About Us

The caliber and character of the ModernFi team set us apart.

We value competence and drive over experience and look for compassionate people with a diverse set of backgrounds. We appreciate technical ability, dedication, and humble confidence. Above all, we value respect – respect to our colleagues, our clients, our partners, and to ourselves. Because we are a close-knit team of high performers, we are selective and considerate with every hire.

The people at ModernFi could be doing anything in the world, yet they choose to be here.

Benefits

We offer generous salary, unlimited PTO, 401(k), and premium health, dental, and vision insurance. As an early hire, you will have access to significant equity and commission at a critical stage of the company’s growth.

The Process

If you’d like to learn more, please email us at [email protected]. Our process is focused on cultural and personality fit. We are excited to get to know you, learn about what motivates you, and ensure that we can accelerate your personal and professional growth.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
