Job Summary & Responsibilities

Steel Partners Holdings L.P. is a global diversified holding company with operations spanning diversified industrial products, energy, defense, supply chain management and logistics, banking, and youth sports. Founded in 1990 by Warren G. Lichtenstein, Steel Partners has grown from a small private investment partnership into a $2 billion enterprise with approximately 5,200 employees across 90 locations in 14 countries. In January 2026, Steel Partners returned to being a privately held, family-owned company, continuing its long-term, values-driven approach to ownership and operations.

We work with our companies to increase long-term value for all stakeholders. Everything we do is guided by The Steel Way, our operating philosophy and cultural foundation. The Steel Way defines how we lead, how we operate, and how we grow, uniting our people across every business unit and industry around a common purpose: building exceptional businesses that stand the test of time by developing exceptional people.

The Steel Way is built on five pillars. Our Kids First purpose reflects our belief that people perform best when they are developed, supported, and challenged to succeed. While rooted in youth sports, Kids First inspires how we invest in the growth and development of all people, including our employees, leaders, coaches, and communities. Our Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, and Commitment guide our decisions and actions every day. The Steel Business System drives operational excellence and continuous improvement across our companies. The Steel Coaching System helps leaders develop people through meaningful conversations, observations, and participation. And Steel Grow reflects our commitment to recruiting, retaining, and rewarding talented people while creating opportunities for learning, advancement, and leadership development throughout their careers.

Together, these pillars create a culture focused on long-term success, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. They provide a common framework that connects our businesses, strengthens our teams, and helps us create lasting value for employees, customers, communities, and shareholders.

Over the past 36 years, Steel Partners has evolved from a private investment fund into a diversified global holding company. While our businesses have grown and changed, our philosophy remains the same: persistence and hard work are the cornerstones of any great organization. With purpose, passion, and perseverance, great things can happen.

The Role

The Marketing Intern will report directly to the SVP of Communications and help shape how Steel Partners tells its story to the world. This is a remote, U.S.-based role with a global scope, supporting communications across our four priority markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Japan.

The intern will contribute to company narrative development, multilingual web and collateral, media strategy, thought leadership, and brand advertising, using AI tools such as Claude to work faster and at higher quality. Given the lean structure of our corporate team, the Marketing Intern will own meaningful projects from day one and work alongside senior leadership on communications that reach investors, partners, employees, and the public.

This is a 20 to 40 hour per week internship designed for recent graduates ready to make a real time commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Company Narrative Development: Help develop and refine the Steel Partners story, including messaging on The Steel Way, our operating companies, and our return to private, family ownership, for audiences in the U.S., UK, Korea, and Japan
  • Japanese-Language Web & Collateral: Support the creation of Japanese-language websites and the enhancement of marketing collateral, using AI tools such as Claude to draft, translate, localize, and quality-check content in partnership with native-language reviewers
  • Media Strategy & Engagement: Support media strategy and outreach in the U.S. and international markets, including building media lists, tracking coverage, drafting pitches and press materials, and preparing leaders for interviews
  • Academic White Papers: Research and write academic-style white papers on topics such as long-term ownership, operational excellence, and leadership development, positioning Steel Partners as a thought leader
  • Stadium & Brand Advertising: Coordinate advertising placements in baseball stadiums and other venues, including creative development, vendor coordination, deadlines, and asset delivery across markets
  • Communications Coordination & Delivery: Manage timelines, track deliverables, and coordinate across internal teams, agencies, and vendors so communications ship on time and on brand
  • AI-Enabled Content Creation: Use Claude and other AI tools to translate and localize content into Japanese, Korean, and other languages, and to accelerate research, drafting, and editing; fluency in these languages is not required. Help build repeatable AI workflows the communications team can use going forward
  • Market & Audience Research: Monitor media, cultural, and industry trends in priority markets and bring forward ideas that strengthen our reach and reputation

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
