The role:

SoFi is looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist to support the development of top-tier marketing strategies and boost member growth across products through the Marketing Affiliates channels, which are key drivers of revenue and new account acquisition for SoFi. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about using data to problem solve within a fast-paced environment.

The Marketing Data Science (MDS) team is responsible for enabling data driven decisions in SoFi’s Marketing organization through robust analytics, modeling, experimentation and measurement. Embedded in the Marketing organization, the team supports all marketing needs across three verticals:

  • Product Strategy and Analytics
  • Marketing Measurement and Digital Channel Analytics, and 
  • Personalization

This new role will be working with senior data scientists to develop, optimize and implement the marketing strategies in the Affiliate channel across products. It will interface directly with marketing managers and leadership and 3rd party affiliate partners to develop reporting and identify insights of improving marketing performance and efficiency.  If you are interested in working with highly quantitative teammates and elevating how data and analytics drives marketing and business decisions, this role is for you.

What you’ll do: 

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor reports and data pipelines shared with Affiliate partners (including Credit Karma, Experian Activate, Nerdwallet, Rakuten, etc.) to ensure seamless exchange of data.
  • Collaborate with the Affiliate Marketing team at SoFi, providing support through ad-hoc analytics, dashboarding, and execution. Collaborate with Risk, Business Unit, Pricing, and other counterparts to develop and implement strategies, and code & deploy models  on Affiliate partner sites to support business growth.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of the marketing strategies, including funnel efficiency (click to convert), CPA (cost per acquisition) and ROI (return on investment), to provide data-driven recommendations and drive informed actions.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs), design reporting framework and develop self-service dashboards to empower organizational-wide access to actionable business insights.
  • Interface with partners to communicate data and reporting needs,  implement partner integrations, and co-create improvement opportunities. 
  • Proactively identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve the conversion rate and reduce the marginal cost to acquire, and work with other channel owners to optimize the overall marketing budget.
  • Transform business objectives into data-driven, actionable tactics and campaigns that generate immediate results and establish a robust foundation for sustained growth.
  • Assist in data and reporting requirements for launching new products in the affiliate channel.  
  • Convert complex data into compelling narratives and concise presentations that inform and guide decision-making at the senior management level.
  • Support the continued evolution of the Affiliate Channel by informing on new capabilities (e.g. AI) and platforms that could next-level our operations.  
  • Fulfill partner requests promptly by providing timely analysis, adeptly navigating ambiguity, and focusing on solution-oriented approaches.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or a quantitative field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Marketing, with a focus in Affiliate channels preferred.
  • Strong preference for industry experience in financial service and familiarity with banking products and marketing channels.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and collaborative skills, with comfort interfacing directly with Marketing & Affiliate leadership and external partners.  
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Tableau.
  • Experience building data pipelines with Airflow, preferably in Snowflake.
  • Demonstrated experience with experimentation and hypothesis testing.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling or machine learning is a plus.
  • High intellectual curiosity and a quick learner of new technical skills.
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects independently to completion, and ability to clearly communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
