About eSpark Learning

At eSpark Learning, we're on a mission to reimagine education in a student-centered way, making high-quality learning accessible to all students, regardless of background or circumstance. We have the utmost respect for the job that elementary teachers do day in and day out, and we want to be their most valued tool for differentiated instruction and driving engagement in their classrooms. We have over a million students on our platform, and school and district customers in all 50 states.

We’re using AI to personalize learning for every student. We’re not just leveling lessons to a student’s ability; we’re customizing the lesson content itself around the student's background and interests. In the last 12 months we've launched several new AI-driven features, like our recently shipped AI-based tutors for phonics and writing.

Our remote culture is deeply rooted in a collegial, collaborative atmosphere. We prize scrappiness, resourcefulness, and a genuine passion for our mission. If you're looking to make a substantial impact in the world of educational technology, we'd love to welcome you aboard.

The Role

As a Marketing Coordinator, you will report into the Senior Marketing Manager and work closely with the Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams.

We are seeking a Marketing Coordinator to support the growth of eSpark by creating high-impact marketing collateral, enabling our customer-facing teams to have meaningful interactions with teachers and administrators, and coordinating conference and event initiatives. This is a contract-to-hire position designed to lead to full-time employment based on success in the role.

This position is ideal for an individual with K-12 education experience (i.e. teaching, administration) and/or edtech experience who demonstrates strong communication skills, a desire to grow their strategic marketing skills, and some portfolio of digital marketing work in edtech or a closely related field.

Core Responsibilities:

Content and Enablement

  • Manage and organize eSpark’s library of customer-facing collateral to support product launches, feature releases, and key initiatives.
  • Write and collaborate on the creation of new high-value marketing resources (one-pagers, case studies, videos, decks, etc.) aligned with key state and regional priorities.
  • Enable customer-facing teams on how to effectively use marketing materials and support specific use cases, as needed.
  • Monitor usage of collateral across sales and CS teams, improving adoption, tracking internal sentiment via surveys, and identifying the most effective content to drive pipeline.

Conferences and Events

  • Plan and execute event logistics, including conference registrations, booth setup, swag ordering, speaker proposals, and pre/post-event outreach.
  • Own and maintain the conference calendar, tracking spend to ensure events generate strong ROI in terms of lead and opportunity creation.
  • Collaborate with sales and CS to submit at least one speaker proposal per applicable event and coordinate preparations with internal and external speakers.
  • Support lead generation efforts by managing bulk outreach before and after conferences and tracking marketing-influenced pipeline contributions.

Key Competencies

  • Mission-Driven Communicator: You’re passionate about supporting elementary education, and you have a keen eye for messaging that resonates with teachers and administrators alike.
  • Resourceful Problem Solver: When you see something that can be improved, you take the initiative to find solutions and improve processes–both for yourself and the broader team.
  • Highly Organized Executor: You’re able to manage multiple projects and deadlines, with strong attention to detail and a good sense of accountability.
  • Growth-Oriented Learner: You’re eager to learn from feedback and from stakeholders across the company, continuously building your skills to bring new projects to life and drive greater impact.
  • Data-Informed Marketer: You’re all about the data. You’re comfortable tracking and reporting out on metrics that show the impact of your projects (lead generation, conference ROI, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a shareable portfolio showcasing your marketing or education-focused content.
    • If you’re an educator, we’re looking for:
      • 2+ years of experience in elementary ELA and/or math subject areas
      • Prior work you’ve done to promote or market educational materials, events in your classroom/school/district, or other relevant projects–along with the rationale behind your work

      • 2+ years of relevant experience in marketing, sales enablement, events, or related fields (edtech or education industry preferred)
      • Examples of prior customer-facing or promotional materials you've developed–along with the rationale behind your work
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools (Customer.io, Intercom, Zapier) and CRM platforms (Salesforce) preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
