Your Role:

The Market Research and Competitive Intelligence Associate Director will develop and execute the primary market research plan to deliver insights to grow market knowledge and support brand decision making.  The Associate Director will partner closely with the marketing team to understand brand needs and support all phases of brand planning and execution.    The Associate Director will also leverage secondary data sources and conduct primary research as needed to understand the evolving competitive landscape of the therapeutic area.  The position will collaborate with brand analytics to deliver integrated insights and with forecasting to inform assumptions and explain performance variances to forecast. 

Location Classification – Hybrid:

This role will be required to work onsite 2 days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday),or more depending on business needs. #LI-Hybrid

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Own and manage the development and execution of primary market research and competitive intelligence plans; manage budget to execute plan including budget reallocation to address emerging needs and understand brand needs to identify research initiatives to address key business questions
  • Stay current on primary market research methodologies; determine best approaches to implement to address brand questions and contribute to development of brand plan, including situation analysis, SWOT, and strategic imperatives
  • Design program to stay current on competition within the evolving therapeutic area; partner with CI vendor as needed to provide ongoing insights of competitive landscape
  • Deliver insights to better understand the HCP, patient, and market landscape to inform brand strategies and tactics
  • Execute market research to track brand performance among key customer groups and provide insights necessary to develop an informed forecast model – ongoing refinement of disease epidemiology, product share, and impact of market events
  • Support the launch planning process – partner with marketing to develop brand messaging; test marketing/educational materials; performance baseline and tracking plan and socialize results and recommendations of analysis/research to Commercial leadership
  • Communication: Effectively communicate insights from primary market research to senior leadership. Use internal communication opportunities to influence action to improve brand performance.  Engage and collaborate with external agency partners and coordination with vendors: Manage market research vendors, including selection process and collaborate with Marketing Agency of record
  • Determine appropriate primary market research techniques to optimally address business questions and meet brand needs
  • Effectively manage multiple projects with varying levels of engagement, scope, and specifications.
  • Coach and mentor new talent on forecasting methodologies
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Role Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in insights/market research competitive intelligence, and analytics, preferably all in Pharma or healthcare related field
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Expertise in primary market research techniques
  • Strong familiarity with leading a competitive intelligence program
  • Strong familiarity with Pharma primary market research agencies and capabilities
  • Expertise in MS Office
  • Ability to work in matrixed team
  • Influence without authority
  • Confidence in presenting to senior management

Compensation and Benefits:
The expected salary range for this position is $138,000 – $182,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
