At Guild, we uphold our Core Values in everything we do. Our team emphasizes our Core Values in the following ways:
  • Nurture A Learner’s Mindset - using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and development areas
  • Build Shared Success - building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Be an Owner - holding self and others accountable to meet commitments
  • Create Belonging - recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to our company

Guild is hiring a Market Development Lead on our Guild Academy team to help drive Guild’s multi-product expansion in new markets. You’ll build a deep understanding of our overall product suite but specialize in Guild’s newest product offerings. You’ll be responsible for driving revenue growth - working with a growth-oriented team to deeply understand the market and target segments, develop and execute creative outreach strategies, and build strong relationships with prospective customers.

This is a strategic and execution-focused role. You’ll be a hands-on growth marketer and seller, responsible for partnering with Product Marketing to accelerate the earliest stages of the sales funnel — from segment definition, targeting, and messaging to final partnership execution. You will collaborate closely with the SVP of Academy, SVP of Product Expansion and cross-functional marketing, product, and operational teams to address market needs.

You'll be working as part of a small nimble team within a larger company - operating like a growth-hacker and seller. This is an ideal role for an ambitious self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys testing and learning and failing-fast, is able to work full-funnel, and is passionate about working with a fast-paced team to unlock access to education and economic opportunity at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Expertise: consistently build and expand deep expertise in our newest products by using & demo-ing them for customers, listening to current and prospective customer conversations, and engaging with key cross-functional partners
  • Business Development & Origination: Independently source and originate new opportunities from the ground up (0→1), using curiosity, creativity, and innovative targeting and outreach strategies. This role is focused on a more established product with nearly a decade of market traction and over 10 active customers—so the emphasis is on creating leads and driving deal momentum, not testing for product-market fit.
  • Market Segment Testing: Develop hypotheses and craft and run experiments in partnership with PMM to test specific market segments, A/B testing and outreach strategies, pivoting quickly based on results
  • Go To Market Strategy: Shape a go-to-market approach specific to Guild’s newest products and markets, being thoughtful about key stages, accelerators, and cross-functional support and collateral. You’ll join a 20+ person product-centric team and focus on scaling a proven solution, bringing energy to go-to-market execution rather than early-stage validation.
  • Sales Execution: develop and manage your sales pipeline and advance opportunities to ultimately drive revenue growth.

Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in full-funnel Growth Marketing, business development, or early stage pipeline generation at an early-stage, high-growth company
  • 3+ years of experience in B2B sales with a demonstrated history of learning new products, iterating quickly, and achieving goals.
  • Strong client-empathy, problem-discovery, and overall communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a results-driven approach and a highly dynamic, cross-functional team
  • Experience with Learning & Development products and buyers is a bonus

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 as well as variable compensation and company stock options.

At Guild, we unlock the talent and economic potential of America’s workforce for employees and their companies. We partner with the nation’s largest employers—including Walmart, Chipotle, Discover, Hilton, Macy’s, Target, and The Walt Disney Company—to create cultures of opportunity that help them attract and retain top talent, while building the workforce of the future from within. By using our proprietary Career Opportunity Platform to develop education and learning programs that work in the real-world, thousands of employees at those companies have gained the skills, knowledge, and guidance they need to build a brighter future for themselves and their families—all without paying for tuition or career services on their own

Guild is female-founded and a certified B Corp. The company has been named to the TIME100 Most Influential Companies of 2022 list, CNBC Disruptor50 list three years in a row, Inc. Best Led Companies list, Fast Co. World Changing Ideas list and the B Lab Best for the World list among many others.

Guild is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let your recruiter know. We currently offer the following benefits:

  • Access to low-cost, high-quality health care options through Cigna and Kaiser (due to coverage limitations, Kaiser is currently only available in CA & CO)
  • Access to a 401k to help save for the future
  • Open vacation policy for employees to rest and recharge
  • 8 days of fully-paid sick leave, to take the time to heal and or recover
  • Family-friendly benefits, including 12 weeks of parental leave for non-birthing parents and 18-20 weeks for birthing parents; 4-week ramp-up period for when employees return from a leave of 6 weeks or more; as well as employer-paid short-term and long-term disability, employer-sponsored life insurance, fertility and caregiving benefits.
  • Well-rounded wellness benefits including free and low cost mental health resources and financial wellbeing support services
  • Education benefits and tuition assistance to help your future development and growth

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
