This is a cross-functional role focused on storytelling, research, and strategic thinking. This is a research role that does not require deep technical skills, but you should be confident working with data.

What will you do?
  • Consumer Understanding: Lead research on who our customers are — including age groups, needs, pain points, and usage behavior across different marketing channels and geo groups.Build and maintain detailed customer personas using real data.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner across teams including performance marketing, lifecycle, influencer, podcast, product, and member success to provide insights that shape messaging, campaigns, and strategies.
  • Competitive & Market Intelligence: Own monthly delivery of competitive insights by channel and country/geo group for the broader marketing team. Track and analyze competitor activity, consumer trends, and public feedback (e.g., Reddit, Trustpilot, YouTube, TikTok).
  • Testing & Optimization: Create and maintain a creative testing tracker to evaluate ad messaging performance across marketing channels and demographics. Analyze funnel performance and A/B tests to identify friction points in the user journey. Highlight areas for improvement and support conversion rate optimization across channels.
  • Voice of Customer: Partner with the Member Success team to identify common user concerns and trends that can inform marketing and product direction.
  • Qualitative & Quantitative Research: Own ongoing research initiatives, including surveys, brand health tracking, and ad-hoc studies. Translate feedback into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Global & Cultural Insights: Collaborate with international teams to surface region-specific user behaviors, cultural nuances, and marketing considerations.
  • Reporting: Lead monthly and quarterly reporting on consumer and market insights, funnel performance, and emerging trends. Develop a framework for monitoring and reporting on brand perception and sentiment (eg: social listening).
What will you NOT do?
  • You will NOT worry about "runway", "cash left", or "how much time we have until the next round". We have the startup DNA but we're fully backed and funded, all the way to success.
  • You will NOT be confined to your "job". You will get involved in product, marketing, business strategy, and almost everything we do.
  • You will NOT be bogged down by office politics, ego, or bad attitude. Only positive, pleasure-to-work-with people are allowed here!
  • You will NOT get yourself burned out. We work hard but we believe in maintaining a sustainable work/life balance. Really.
Can I work remotely?

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
