The US Hardware Installation & Standards team is dedicated to the adoption, certification, and deployment of technology hardware in over 13,500 US restaurants.
This role will be responsible for designing and implementing a strategy for the Hardware Installation & Standards team, including:
- Maintaining a globally-aligned hardware roadmap.
- Managing the hardware and OS lifecycle for all restaurant devices.
- Lab and field evaluation for all new hardware devices.
- Handling current team workload and future capacity using best-practices.
- Writing concise, executive level status updates for key projects.
- Developing and tracking Hardware Adoption critical metrics for Senior Leadership insight.
2 Technology Deployment Supervisors and 18 Contractors report to this role.
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Technology Deployment for the Hardware Adoption team within the US Technology organization.
Duties
- Evaluate impact of hardware on restaurant operations, ensuring hardware meets US Market restaurant requirements and standards.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and run all aspects of the Hardware Certification process.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the outsourced contractor team, delegating responsibilities where support is required.
- Work with Product Owners, other MHQ Departments (e.g. Global & Segment Teams), Field partners, Suppliers/Vendors, the OTP Program and O/O's to understand business needs and their standard methodologies.
- Present project plans and timelines to partners and Leadership committees.
- Maintain project status and reporting by coordinating deadlines from the consulting team to ensure accountability on outcomes
- Create, monitor, and maintain KPIs.
- Assist in defining Hardware Quality Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure all documentation remains current (e.g. Installation, Cabling, Topology, Electrical Standards, etc.).
- Train and mentor team members and champion an environment where they can excel through support and empowerment.
- Provide regular informal feedback, as well as formal feedback for performance reviews, and mentoring for positions under this role's supervision.
- Promote team empowerment by ensuring that each team member is fully engaged in the project with significant contributions/outcomes.
- Represent the Hardware Adoption team in governance calls and technical reviews.

- Experience handling technical priorities and driving strategic hardware initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical products from an unclear problem statement, driving clarity, understanding, and opportunity assessment, handling trade-offs and evaluating potential concepts with internal and external partners using design thinking and agile principles.
- Experience working in an agile product development environment: participating in and leading agile ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking metrics of multiple teams, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc.)
- Impact-minded approach, with ability to articulate goals and instill action and alignment to reach them.
- Shown analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop product strategy and business cases, and measure success.
- Strong written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in easy-to-understand business friendly language.
- Ability to develop and manage project schedules, communicate deadlines, make sure project deadlines are adhered to, and creatively solve issues.
- Able to work with culturally teams with varied strengths across levels in a global organization and in an extensively outsourced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hardware peripherals, architecture, and cataloging processes. Example hardware: kiosks, digital signage, media players, scanners, cash recyclers, audio systems, etc.
- Show ability to effectively influence and partner across product and platform teams.
- Experience defining hardware standards and specifications.
Experience
- 5+ years of technical product management or relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3+ years relevant experience with a Master's degree.
- 2+ years working with restaurant or retail hardware solutions and platforms.
- Experience working on technical teams that manage an important product and/or a suite of products.
- Experience communicating with leadership and setting expectations for major cross-functional initiatives.
