We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager with extensive income tax provision experience to join the growing tax team of a highly acquisitive and fast-paced Company. As a Manager, Tax Reporting & Compliance, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of income tax reporting and compliance, including leading the quarterly provision process and supporting the financial statement audit of the tax provision. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of tax regulations and proficiency in tax transformation & automation, specifically Onesource Tax Provision implementation.

As a highly acquisitive company, we require a professional with significant experience integrating new entities into the tax process. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Tax, this role offers significant visibility to C-Suite executives, providing ample opportunities for professional development.  

This role is primarily remote but will require periodic trips to our Atlanta or Auburn office for meetings.  The timing of travel will be planned with significant advance notice.

Primary Responsibilities

Tax Reporting:

  • Lead the preparation and review of quarterly tax provision calculations and related journal entries to be recorded in the General Ledger, utilizing Onesource Tax Provision.

  • Maintain and update Onesource Tax Provision for changes in tax law, mergers & acquisitions.

  • Analyze financial data to compute current and deferred income tax assets and liabilities on a quarterly basis.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requisite information for tax provision calculations.

  • Develop and enhance process to improve estimation and tracking of book-tax differences throughout the year.

  • Perform quarterly reconciliation of tax payables, ensuring alignment with the general ledger.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and their tax team to review the provisions and related journal entries.

  • Oversee third-party preparers, reviewing tax provision and return-to-provision adjustments.

Tax Compliance:

  • Lead the preparation of tax workpapers and review federal, state & local return drafts prepared by third-party service provider.

  • Prepare and/or review quarterly estimate and extension calculations.

  • Lead the monthly reconciliation process for all tax accounts.

  • Proactively organize and respond to income tax notices promptly managing correspondence with tax authorities in a timely manner.

  • Assist the Senior Director in review of Tax Due Diligence reports related to M&A acquisitions and identifying risks, exposures, and area needing remediation.

  • Collaborate with sellers of acquired business units to ensure pre-acquisition tax returns are submitted for review and filed timely.

  • Support the Technical Accounting team with purchase accounting for acquisitions including providing the appropriate deferred tax asset/liability and tax payable amounts for the opening balance sheets.

  • Maintain a detailed tax compliance calendar tracking filing deadlines, payments and other key obligations.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax laws, with working knowledge of international tax concepts a plus.

  • Strong technical tax accounting skills (ASC 740) including provision preparation and deferred tax analysis.

  • Ability to interpret complex tax issues, regulatory changes, and apply them to business scenarios.

  • Proficiency in using tax provision software (Onesource or similar) and large ERP systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong project management capabilities, particularly in managing multiple deadlines across reporting and compliance.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interface with auditors, external advisors, and internal cross-functional teams.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across Accounting, Finance, and Legal departments, and in an M&A integration environment.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA certification or advanced degree in Taxation preferred.

  • 6-8 years of progressive tax experience, including tax accounting (ASC 740), reporting and compliance work.

  • Public accounting experience or experience managing external preparers/auditors.

  • Proven expertise managing quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax compliance processes, and coordinating audits.

  • Strong knowledge of income tax regulations and related accounting principles.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient using Onesource Tax Provision and accounting systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Taxation (MST) or equivalent advanced degree.

  • Experience in a software, payments, or financial technology company environment.

  • Prior experience in a multi-entity structure with significant M&A integration work.

  • Familiarity with international tax concepts and indirect tax matters.
