Summary/Objective: 

This position will be responsible for the direction and growth of Constellation Field as a special event destination in Fort Bend County and the Greater Houston area. The Manager, Special Events Sales will be responsible for achieving both sales and operational goals for special events on an annual basis. This role will work with various internal departments to create and execute dynamic, new and exciting non-gameday events which will support and promote Constellation Field as one of the most unique and highly attractive entertainment and events venues in our region.
 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Work hand in hand with the Director, Special Events to maximize non-gameday revenue and ensure that sales activities meet and support organizational objectives.
  • Responsible for creative event development, site tours and responding to inquiries via telephone, email and in-person.
  • Make outbound sales connections (phone/e-mail/social) to existing, previous and new clients.
  • Schedule and attend site visits with clients.
  • Be present on-site, execute and participate in the operation of contracted special events of all sizes.
  • Prepare full scale event proposals and all related materials and correspondence.
  • Organize and coordinate events with third-party vendors (cleaning, security, catering, etc).
  • Research and implement the latest and most effective special event sales and operations tactics.
  • Identify and attend trades shows and events with a strong likelihood of generating positive returns for the organization.
  • Assist Director, Special Events to set sales targets and forecast monthly and annual revenues, while setting short and long-term goals and strategies for special event sales and operations.
  • Assist with pre-event planning, physical event set up, and post-event breakdown.
  • Develop, recommend and implement sales strategies and goals to ensure departmental growth.
  • Develop and direct sales support activities, including contracts, sales proposals, promotions and sales planning.
  • Identify special event leads and prepare proposals.
  • Identify operational opportunities to minimize event costs where appropriate/feasible.
  • Work closely with other departments to identify and achieve cross departmental revenue generation ideas.
  • Oversee the full process of special event accounts: prospect, sell, plan, execute, ensure necessary documentation is complete, collect payment, post-event reporting, etc.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships that result in mutual cooperation with Front Office staff, Field Operations, Stadium Operations, players and coaches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of sales and operations experience with at least one (1) year in a special events sales environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • Creative and professional presentation style combined with a collaborative problem-solving approach.
  • Demonstrated history of generating new and creative sales campaigns and ideas combined with a successful track record of closing deals.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the special events schedule.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to anticipate both organizational and client needs.
  • Strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Strong project management skills and sales proposal experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new and creative sales and operations ideas.
  • Comfortable making difficult decisions, demonstrating and demanding excellence and executing requests in a timely, satisfactory manner.

Work Environment

  • Position will work in an office and stadium environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. 

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to lift/move/carry items weighing up to 60 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to lift/move items weighing up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to use/operate typical maintenance hand tools and power tools on a regular basis, for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use/operate heavy equipment including by not limited to: scissor lifts, boom lifts, tractors, etc.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on position in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Due to the nature of this position, the position requires hours of work and days that include frequent nights, weekends, and holidays. This includes attendance at the vast majority of non-gameday special events.

Travel

  • Rare travel may be expected for this position.
