To be considered for this remote opportunity, you must reside and be authorized to work within the United States.

About the Role:

Resident is looking for a Manager, Search & AI Visibility to join the SEO team within the Labs Product division. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at a pivotal moment in Resident's growth. As one of the fastest-growing omnichannel retailers in North America, Resident is expanding its brand portfolio, entering new categories, and building the organic infrastructure to support long-term, scalable growth. This role sits at the center of that — with real opportunity to shape SEO strategy not just across Resident's core brands, but across a broader ecosystem of brands and business units within our parent company. For the right person, this is a career-defining opportunity to operate at scale, influence a growing organization, and help build something that matters.

The role will play a key part in supporting Resident's next phase of growth, with a strong emphasis on new brand launches, site migrations, and scaling SEO practices across an expanding portfolio. It will support core Resident brands — Nectar, DreamCloud, Awara, and Siena — as well as Newton Baby, Ashley portfolio brands, and future brands as they are brought into our catalog, content, feed, and ecommerce ecosystem.

This person is responsible for owning and executing SEO strategy across technical SEO, content SEO, on-page optimization, site architecture, internal linking, indexation, and authority-building initiatives. We are not looking for someone who only reports on performance. We need someone who can identify what needs to be fixed, create the plan, partner with the right teams, and drive work through to execution. The right person will be technical enough to work directly with Engineering, content-minded enough to improve pages and briefs, analytical enough to find opportunities in the data, and confident enough to present recommendations and results in cross-functional forums.

This role will also help grow organic visibility, traffic, and revenue across traditional search and emerging AI search surfaces — including AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other citation-led experiences.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Technical SEO & Site Health Own and execute the technical SEO roadmap across Resident's brand portfolio — including Nectar, DreamCloud, Awara, Siena, Newton Baby, and Ashley portfolio brands. Lead initiatives spanning crawlability, indexation, canonicals, redirects, internal linking, structured data, JavaScript rendering, Core Web Vitals, page speed, sitemaps, robots.txt, pagination, faceted navigation, and site architecture. Conduct regular audits using Screaming Frog, Botify, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, GA4, BigQuery, and other SEO platforms — and translate findings into prioritized, well-documented tickets with clear acceptance criteria, QA steps, and launch validation.
  • Product & Engineering Partnership Embed SEO best practices into new templates, components, site migrations, product launches, and experiments before they go live — not after. Partner closely with Engineering to ensure SEO requirements are built in from the start, and own QA and validation through each release.
  • On-Page & Content Optimization Own on-page SEO across PDPs, PLPs, content hubs, comparison pages, category pages, buying guides, landing pages, and editorial content. Partner with Content, Brand, Creative, and Growth teams to sharpen titles, meta descriptions, H1s, content structure, schema, FAQs, and keyword targeting. Identify content gaps, decaying pages, cannibalization issues, and net-new ranking opportunities across brands and categories. Develop SEO briefs for new content, refreshes, product launches, and AI/citation-focused content.
  • Internal Linking & Authority Build and execute internal linking strategies that improve crawl efficiency, topical authority, product discovery, and customer journeys. Support off-page and authority-building efforts, including citation opportunities, affiliate and press visibility, digital PR inputs, and community signals that improve both traditional and AI-based discovery.
  • Measurement, Reporting & Stakeholder Communication Define and track SEO KPIs — organic sessions, rankings, impressions, CTR, revenue contribution, non-brand growth, technical health, indexation, crawl efficiency, and AI/citation visibility. Build a repeatable reporting cadence that clearly communicates performance, root causes, actions taken, and next steps. Proactively surface risks and opportunities — traffic drops, ranking declines, indexing issues, content decay, and technical regressions — before they become urgent. Present plans, findings, and tradeoffs clearly in cross-functional meetings and leadership forums.
  • Scale & Vendor Management Create scalable SEO frameworks that can be applied consistently across Resident brands, Ashley portfolio brands, and Newton Baby — spanning multiple categories and ecommerce platforms. Manage SEO tools, vendors, consultants, and agency partners where applicable, ensuring outputs are accurate, actionable, and tied to measurable business outcomes.

The responsibilities described above are not exhaustive. You may be asked, from time to time and as reasonably required by business needs, to perform other duties consistent with your skills and role, including work for or on behalf of our related entities. This job description does not constitute a contract of employment and may be modified at any time, subject to applicable law.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience & Background 5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in SEO — spanning technical SEO, on-page optimization, content SEO, ecommerce SEO, or organic growth. You've worked across Product, Engineering, Content, Brand, Creative, Growth, and Analytics teams, and you know how to move work forward in cross-functional environments without waiting for detailed direction.
  • Technical SEO Deep, hands-on command of technical SEO — crawlability, indexation, site architecture, JavaScript rendering, structured data, canonicals, redirects, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, and page performance. Proven ability to create clear SEO requirements, work directly with Engineering to implement and validate fixes, and prevent regressions before and after releases. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, schema markup, and modern frontend frameworks.
  • On-Page & Content SEO Strong experience owning on-page optimization across ecommerce and content environments — keyword research, metadata, headings, schema, FAQs, content briefs, internal linking, content refreshes, and cannibalization analysis. Able to improve pages, briefs, and customer-facing content quality in ways that serve both search engines and real users.
  • Analytics & Insight Proficiency with Google Search Console, GA4, BigQuery, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Botify, Ahrefs, BrightEdge, Profound, or comparable platforms. The ability to go beyond pulling reports — identifying issues, sizing opportunities, prioritizing work, and translating data into decisions and action.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Influence Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical SEO concepts for non-technical audiences. Comfortable presenting findings, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations in cross-functional meetings and leadership forums — and able to influence without authority across a range of stakeholders.
  • Mindset & Ways of Working You're proactive — regularly surfacing opportunities and risks without being asked. You're commercially minded — you understand how SEO connects to revenue, conversion, product discovery, and brand growth. You're action-oriented — focused on shipping improvements, not just identifying them. And you balance impact, effort, urgency, and dependencies well when deciding where to focus.
  • Preferred & Bonus Experience Experience with ecommerce SEO, multi-brand websites, marketplace visibility, product feeds, or product-led organic growth is strongly preferred. Familiarity with AI search, LLM citations, AEO/GEO, or emerging discovery platforms is a plus.

What We Offer (subject to eligibility requirements):

  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus potential

  • HSA company contributions
  • 401K with company match component

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
