Role Overview – Why This Role Matters

The Manager, Salesforce Platform is the technical leader responsible for the strategy, stability, and continuous evolution of the Salesforce platform that powers the company's commercial operations. As part of the Sales Operations organization, this role delivers scalable technology solutions that enable Sales, Customer Support, and other customer-facing teams to operate efficiently and provide exceptional customer experiences.

This position combines hands-on Salesforce development with people leadership, platform governance, and technical strategy while continuously evaluating emerging Salesforce capabilities, AI innovations, and integration technologies that create business value. Success in this role comes from balancing operational excellence with continuous platform modernization to build an intelligent, secure, and scalable commercial technology platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the technical strategy, roadmap, and day-to-day operation of the Salesforce platform, ensuring it remains secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with evolving business priorities.

  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and integrated business applications using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, APIs, and platform automation to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

  • Own the Salesforce development lifecycle, including solution architecture, development standards, source control, deployment pipelines, environment management, release governance, and production deployments.

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Salesforce Administrator while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability.

  • Lead cross-functional solution design and integration efforts by partnering with Customer Support, Product, IT, Finance, Marketing, and business stakeholders to evaluate business needs, recommend secure and scalable solutions, and establish appropriate technical guardrails that protect the integrity of the commercial technology platform.

  • Establish and continuously improve platform governance, architecture standards, security controls, documentation, and development best practices to ensure the Salesforce platform remains secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise technology standards.

  • Continuously evaluate emerging Salesforce capabilities, AI technologies, Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI-assisted development tools, and ecosystem integrations, recommending and implementing innovations that improve automation, developer productivity, operational efficiency, and business outcomes.

  • Serve as the trusted technical owner of the commercial Salesforce platform by resolving complex technical challenges, reducing technical debt, enabling cross-functional initiatives, and driving continuous platform innovation.

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting Salesforce platform solutions, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, integrations, and platform configuration.

  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing technical team members while remaining actively engaged in solution architecture and software development.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education, certifications, and substantial hands-on Salesforce experience; demonstrated success delivering and leading enterprise platform solutions.

  • Experience managing Salesforce deployments using Git-based source control, release management, CI/CD practices, and multiple Salesforce environments.

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, security, APIs, integrations, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and enterprise platform best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging Salesforce capabilities, AI technologies, and modern integration patterns, translating new innovations into practical business solutions.

  • Strong judgment and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand business objectives, evaluate technical solutions and integrations, identify secure and scalable alternatives, and confidently recommend against approaches that introduce unacceptable security, architectural, operational, or long-term platform risk.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills with a passion for continuous improvement and technology innovation.

Nice to Have

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I or II, Salesforce Administrator, Application Architect, or other Salesforce certifications.

  • Experience with Salesforce AI capabilities, AI-assisted development tools, enterprise AI platforms, or intelligent automation technologies.

  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), API-first architectures, modern integration frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns.

  • Experience with Salesforce DevOps and deployment tools such as GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
