Manager, People Operations

Job Description

We’re looking for a Manager, People Operations to join our team and help create a seamless, impactful, and people-first employee experience. This role will report to the Director, People Operations and will own key people processes across the employee lifecycle, champion culture and values, and ensure operational excellence as we scale. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with a passion for making workplaces better for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

• HR Operations & Compliance
• Oversee and continuously improve day-to-day people operations, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee data management.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive audit checklists for HR and operational processes, ensuring regular reviews are conducted and compliance is consistently upheld across teams.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Maintain and update processes, policies and employee handbooks.
• Employee Experience & Engagement
• Own and manage the People Operations ticketing system, ensuring timely responses within defined SLA timelines, while continuously creating and updating dashboard analytics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Be an escalation point for most tickets within general People-related topics
• Drive initiatives that promote employee engagement, wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.
• Benefits & People Partner Support
• Support, as needed, benefits programs and employee education within our ticketing system and on Confluence
• Support, as needed, the Business Partner team with project-based work, analysis and/or day to day work
• Systems & Processes
• Be a part of most business processes within our Workday HRIS
• Learn and understand Tekion’s business structure and add insights on how to improve our system processes and approach
• Develop scalable processes and documentation to support a growing, distributed team.

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in People/HR roles, including 2 plus years preferably in People Operations 
• 2+ years of management experience
• 2+ years experience with Workday
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft suite skills
• Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for building inclusive, collaborative, high-performing teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
• HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
