THE ROLE (Beauty Industry Experience Required)
The Manager, Package Development leads the end-to-end packaging development, and execution for all new product launches across all product categories. This role is responsible for delivering innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions that align with brand identity, product positioning, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with creative problem-solving and cross-functional leadership
Packaging Development & Execution
-Lead the design, development, and commercialization of primary and secondary packaging from concept through launch
-Drive innovation in materials, functionality, and sustainability while maintaining brand aesthetics and performance standards
-Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes
Project Management
- Own packaging timelines from concept through launch, ensuring all required milestones are achieved on time
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration internally and with external supply base to ensure all required deliverables are achieved Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Vendor & Supplier Management
- Source, evaluate, and manage packaging suppliers globally.
- Negotiate costs, MOQs, and lead times to optimize value, efficiency
- Ensure vendor compliance with quality, sustainability, and ethical standards.
Technical Qualification
-Understanding of technical drawings and cosmetics-specific requirements and testing protocols to drive qualification
-Partner with internal and external teams to ensure required primary and secondary packaging testing and qualification completion within required project timing (compatibility, stability, transit, and regulatory compliance).
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions quickly.
- Ensure packaging meets performance, quality, and safety requirements.
Cost & Sustainability Strategy
- Develop cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or brand integrity.
- Lead sustainability efforts, including material reduction, recyclability, and use of PCR/eco-friendly materials.
WHO YOU ARE
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in packaging development, preferably in cosmetics, beauty, or CPG.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, glass, metal, paperboard) and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience managing complex product launches and working with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Experience working with global suppliers and international markets.
- Familiarity with cosmetics-specific requirements (e.g., compatibility with formulas, dispensing systems).
- Background in both mass and prestige beauty segments.
- Experience with contract manufacturers (CMs) and turnkey suppliers.
- Strategic thinking with strong execution skills
