Job Description

The Manager, IT – HR Technology, Workday, Extend & AI Capability Lead provides business and technology leadership for Gilead's HR technology ecosystem, with accountability for Workday and related HR platforms. This role partners closely with HR, People Technology, and IT stakeholders to align technology capabilities with business priorities, drive process transformation, and enable AI-powered solutions that improve employee experience and operational effectiveness. The individual serves as a trusted advisor to HR leadership, identifying opportunities for innovation, optimization, and automation while leading the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of HR technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the HR Technology capability, defining strategy, governance, operating models, standards, roadmaps, and long-term platform evolution.

  • Serve as the primary IT business partner to HR, translating business priorities into scalable technology solutions and measurable business outcomes.

  • Partner with People Technology and HR Centers of Excellence (Core HR, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning, Compensation, Benefits, Workforce Planning, and Employee Relations) to deliver technology solutions aligned to business priorities.

  • Understand end-to-end HR business processes, align technology capabilities to business needs, and drive process optimization across HR functions.

  • Lead tool evaluations and assessments with Security and Sourcing teams to enable HR technology

  • Act as a strategic technology advisor to HR and IT leadership by identifying emerging technologies, AI innovations, Workday capabilities, and industry best practices that accelerate HR transformation and business value realization.

  • Act as technical advisor for Workday Extend technology. Evaluate business pain points and leverage Workday Extend capabilities to design, build, and deploy scalable applications, workflows, automations, and employee experiences that extend native Workday functionality and improve business outcomes.

  • Provide technical leadership across solution architecture, integrations, APIs, security, identity management, data governance, master data management, and platform modernization initiatives.

  • Assess current-state processes, identify capability gaps, and design future-state solutions. Improve employee experience, operational efficiency, compliance, data quality, and workforce effectiveness.

  • Lead the adoption of AI and Generative AI capabilities within HR, enabling intelligent self-service, workflow automation, virtual assistants, knowledge management, workforce insights, and decision support.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, vendors, and strategic partners through solution design, implementation, deployment, enhancements, and support activities.

  • Oversee configuration, development, testing, release management, and deployment activities, ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, scalable, and production ready.

  • Configure and build Agents, identify opportunities to leverage native Workday AI and Agent capabilities to automate HR processes, improve productivity, and enhance employee experiences.

  • Drive continuous improvement across HR technology platforms by identifying automation opportunities, reducing process complexity, and maximizing the value delivered through Workday, Workday Extend, and Workday AI capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree with 6 years of experience or a Masters degree with 4 years of experience.


 

The salary range for this position is: $146,540.00 - $189,640.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
