Job Summary

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Instructional Designer to develop engaging, accurate, and accessible security awareness and compliance training content for both technical and non-technical audiences. This role combines instructional design, research, writing, and visual storytelling to turn complex cybersecurity and compliance topics into short, effective learning experiences. The ideal candidate will create story-driven microlearning content that improves learner understanding of security risks, compliance requirements, and secure behaviors across a range of audiences.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cybersecurity, security awareness, and compliance training content for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Create story-driven microlearning modules ranging from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in length
  • Research and translate complex cybersecurity and compliance topics into clear, accurate, and engaging learning experiences
  • Write realistic scenarios and training content on topics such as phishing, AI threats, social engineering, NIST, HIPAA, GDPR, and secure development practices
  • Tailor messaging, tone, and level of technical depth based on the target audience, including IT professionals, developers, and general employees
  • Independently build subject-matter expertise in new cybersecurity and compliance topics as needed to support content development
  • Use eLearning, video, and design tools to produce visually engaging and accessible learning content
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure training content aligns with security awareness goals, compliance requirements, and learner needs

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience creating cybersecurity, security awareness, or compliance training content
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning, microlearning, or storyboarding
  • 3+ years of experience writing content for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • 3+ years of experience researching cybersecurity or compliance topics and developing original training content from that research
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience using eLearning, video, or design tools such as Vyond, Articulate Rise, Storyline, Synthesia, Camtasia, Canva, or Captivate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, instructional design, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in content management, curriculum development, or a similar role
  • 2+ years of experience developing content related to cybersecurity threats, trends, best practices, or security awareness methodologies
  • 2+ years of experience creating compliance-related training content
  • Experience designing short-form, scenario-based, or story-driven learning experiences
  • Experience writing in a clear, engaging, and narrative-driven tone
  • Proficiency with content management systems and strong verbal, written, editing, and proofreading skills
