As an integral part of the central analytics team that provides data, insights, and reporting across all of Sony’s US labels, your role will be involved with creating and executing the next generation of reports, dashboards, and analytical approaches to assess the performance of our artists, albums, and track releases, evaluate sales and marketing campaigns, uncover actionable insights on playlists and charts, and understand artist audiences. The role will perform deep dive research to answer business critical questions posed by senior leaders across US Commercial Partnerships, Global Digital Business and Sony Music's US labels to understand the latest trends across the music industry, competitors, digital streaming partners, and consumers.

What you'll do:
  • Utilize internal and external business intelligence and data analytics tools to create new reports, dashboards, analysis, and methods for evaluating new releases, understanding artist audiences, and uncovering actionable streaming insights
  • Own the maintenance and enhancements of automated recurring reports, processes, and dashboards that provide streaming, playlist, sales, and charts information in support of our labels
  • Fulfill ad hoc data requests to answer business critical questions on tracks, albums, artists, playlists, charts, sales, and marketing campaigns, to name a few.
  • Perform deep dive research to understand the latest trends across the music industry, competitors, digital streaming partners, and consumer behavior and share those insights in regular updates to the business
  • Provide support to a wide range of customers including those from central sales account teams, international marketing teams, smaller Sony labels without analytics resources as well as additional support to our largest labels
  • Become data expert on the many sources and systems to ensure data integrity and report accuracy, working with technology teams to resolve technical data issues and recommend enhancements 
Who you are:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working with data
  • Expertise working with relational databases and writing complex SQL
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills – ability to identify trends in large datasets, display creativity in problem solving, and generate new ideas
  • Excellent communicator and enthusiastic collaborator
  • Possess a “customer service” mentality to ensure the needs of labels and senior management are met in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Passion for music and desire to build a career in the industry

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

$90,000$110,000 USD
