Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Role

We’re looking for a Program Lead to help transform how our editorial and publishing teams create, curate, and distribute content. This role will own how we harness that potential. You’ll combine strategic vision, hands-on experimentation, and deep collaboration to identify the right opportunities, prove out what works, and bring scalable AI tools and workflows into the heart of our publishing process. This work is in collaboration with Marketing Operations to leverage existing tools and practices.

This role sits at the intersection of editorial craft, technology, and product development. You’ll partner with ML scientists, data scientists, global program lead, product managers, and creative leaders to pilot new tools, design responsible AI guardrails, and guide adoption across teams. You’ll be equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves to test and prototype as you are shaping strategy and influencing cross-function partners. Your work will help editors and storytellers explore new creative possibilities, and maintain the high standards our audiences expect — while making sure AI is used responsibly and effectively.

Core responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize use cases by collaborating with editorial, publishing, product, and data teams; balance impact, feasibility, and strategic fit

  • Lead and personally run experiments — prototype, test, and refine AI solutions; gather user feedback and iterate quickly

  • Build and manage testing frameworks to evaluate model results for editorial needs, workflow effectiveness, editorial standards, and ROI

  • Set the AI roadmap for editorial and publishing: define where AI can accelerate content creation, curation, and distribution

  • Evaluate build vs. customize vs. buy options for AI tools in partnership with Product/Engineering

  • Partner closely with ML scientists and data scientists to influence model development and tune outputs for editorial needs (tone, accuracy, safety)

  • Develop and maintain editorial guardrails — style, voice, fact-checking, and responsible AI use

  • Track, measure, and report impact — performance, efficiency gains, content quality, adoption, and user satisfaction

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Product, Data, and Legal/Policy teams to ensure alignment and compliance

  • Stay on top of trends — emerging models, tools, and workflows relevant to publishing and storytelling

Skillset and Experience

  • AI/ML literacy – solid understanding of generative AI concepts to partner with technical teams (LLMs, RAG, prompting, fine-tuning, model evaluation)

  • Experimentation & prototyping – ability to partner with technical teams to design, run, and interpret pilots (A/B tests, quality evaluations, feedback loops)

  • Product thinking – can define use cases, assess build/customize/buy trade-offs, and shape a roadmap

  • Data & analytics – comfortable with metrics, experimentation frameworks, and measuring adoption/ROI

  • Storytelling and editorial expertise — understanding of how great stories are shaped, packaged, and distributed across publishing and marketing channels

  • Editorial judgment – understands publishing workflows, editorial standards (voice, tone, accuracy, ethics)

  • Change management & adoption – able to coach creative teams, write guidance, and champion new tools

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
