About the Role
Otto Aviation is currently seeking a highly experienced finance professional to join our team as the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). As a new role within the organization, this is an exciting opportunity for a selected candidate to be a part of a world-class FP&A team. The Manager of FP&A is a role responsible for working closely with the VP of FP&A to oversee the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis activities of the organization. This role involves working closely with executive management, department heads, and other key stakeholders to provide strategic financial insights that drive informed decision-making and support the achievement of the company's financial objectives.
What You’ll Do
- Financial Planning & Forecasting: Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models, including multi-year forecasts, scenario analysis, and rolling budgets tailored to aerospace-specific needs (e.g., prototyping costs, supply chain volatility, and capital expenditures for testing facilities or satellite launches).
- Budget Management: Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to allocate resources efficiently. Track variances, provide monthly/quarterly reports, and recommend adjustments to optimize burn rate and extend runway
- Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth KPI analysis (e.g., cost per unit, R&D ROI, cash flow metrics) and deliver actionable insights to leadership. Use data to support decision-making on investments in new technologies or partnerships.
- Fundraising Support: Assist in preparing financial materials for investor pitches, due diligence, and funding rounds (e.g., Series B/C). Model pro forma financials, including sources and uses statements, and evaluate funding scenarios.
- Cost Control & Compliance: Monitor aerospace-specific costs (e.g., regulatory compliance, PDPs for aircraft components, or WIP inventory) and ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP/IFRS standards. Identify cost-saving opportunities in a lean startup environment.
- Reporting & Dashboards: Build and automate financial dashboards (e.g., using Excel, Tableau, or BI tools) for real-time visibility into metrics like EBITDA, FCF, and capex. Prepare executive summaries and board reports.
- Strategic Projects: Support M&A evaluations, grant applications (e.g., NASA/SBIR programs), or partnerships by providing financial due diligence and valuation analysis.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior analysts and collaborate cross-functionally with teams in engineering, procurement, and sales to align financial goals with operational realities.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent is a plus
Experience
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning, analysis, and management.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
- Proficiency in financial software, data visualization tools, and ERP systems.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, especially in translating complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Experience working with suppliers and vendors is a plus.

Where You'll Be
**This is a remote position, with travel to the company headquarters in Ft Worth, TX, 1 week every 4-6 weeks
