What You'll Do as a Manager, Database Infrastructure Engineering
- Manage and mentor a team of Database Administrators, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment to deliver high-performing results.
- Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of complex database systems, including MSSQL, MongoDB, PGSQL, and cloud databases on AWS and GCP.
- Maintain optimal performance and reliability for production and non-production environments by implementing proactive monitoring and incident response processes.
- Leverage AWS and GCP services as part of the core database infrastructure, using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage cloud resources.
- Apply FinOps methodologies to track, analyze, and reduce cloud-related costs while ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Establish compliance with change management policies, including SOX certification requirements, and implement robust backup and data retention strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for technology enhancements, streamline processes, and drive continuous innovation.
- Lead project planning and sprint activities, ensuring prioritization, resource allocation, and successful delivery of initiatives.
What You'll Bring
- At least 3 years of experience in managing an engineering team.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project Management Skills: Hands-on experience with project planning, sprint planning, and agile methodologies.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience managing complex database environments, including MSSQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, and GCP databases.
- Scripting and Coding Skills: Proficient in writing and optimizing code in DB procedures, Python, Ansible, or PowerShell is a plus.
- Cloud Proficiency: Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-based database solutions. Expertise in using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization: Deep understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and database monitoring tools.
- Preferred Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with change management policies and SOX certification processes as advantage.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to users in both written and verbal English.
