Universal Music Group
Manager, Creative Sync – Short Form & Digital Partnerships
We are UMG, the Universal Music Group. We are the world’s leading music company. In everything we do, we are committed to artistry, innovation and entrepreneurship. We own and operate a broad array of businesses engaged in recorded music, music publishing, merchandising, and audiovisual content in more than 60 countries. We identify and develop recording artists and songwriters, and we produce, distribute and promote the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful music to delight and entertain fans around the world.
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Manager, Creative Sync – Short Form & Digital Partnerships to lead our strategy around placing music in short-form content across TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and more across our label groups at Interscope Capitol [IGA, Capitol Music Group, Verve Label Group and Lost Highway]. This role will focus on proactively pitching our artists’ music into content created by studios, streamers, and production companies while also reacting to cultural moments where our music is already being used by fans and creators, especially in film/TV-style edits.
The ideal candidate has a background in sync or digital music marketing, strong industry relationships, and a passion for tracking trends, pitching creatively, and navigating sync clearance in an evolving digital space.
Department: Creative Sync Licensing / Interscope Capitol
Reports to: SVP, Head of Creative Sync Licensing
How you'll CREATE:
- Proactively pitch frontline and catalog music for short-form content across platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging formats.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with digital/social teams at streamers, networks, production companies, and film studios (e.g., Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, A24, etc.).
- Identify fan-generated or creator-led content (e.g., music over existing film/TV footage) and work cross-functionally to amplify or convert into official moments or broader campaigns.
- Act as a strategic partner to digital marketing and artist teams to support release campaigns, sync/viral moments, and narratives through short-form sync content.
- Stay ahead of digital trends and creator behavior—bring insights to the team and inform pitching strategy with what’s working culturally.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sync Clearance, UMe and publishing partners to ensure sync clearance rights are proactively managed and optimized for short-form and platform-native usage.
- Maintain and update internal tracking systems for short-form placements, contacts, usage trends, and results.
Bring your VIBE:
- 3–5 years of experience in sync licensing, digital music marketing, or content partnerships at a label, studio, streamer, or digital marketing entertainment firm.
- Strong understanding of short-form video culture, platform trends, and how music is used in digital storytelling.
- Existing relationships with content, digital, and editorial teams in the film/TV space, particularly in social or creative marketing arms.
- Creative, strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling and the ability to connect music to content in impactful ways.
- Highly organized, collaborative, and proactive—able to manage multiple moving parts and see around corners in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with sync clearance processes and comfort navigating non-traditional licensing situations for new media.
