Job Description:

The Manager, Cost Accounting leads the cost accounting function for semiconductor manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for overseeing cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, supporting financial reporting, and driving cost visibility across manufacturing sites. The position provides leadership to a team and partners cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to improve cost performance and compliance. 

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting & Financial Oversight

  • Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to manufacturing costs.

  • Ensure accuracy of inventory accounting, including reserves, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.

  • Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, overhead, scrap, yield) and provide actionable insights to business leaders.

  • Support product costing, new product introductions (NPI), and ongoing cost improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls (SOX), and corporate accounting policies.

Business Partnership

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve cost performance and operational efficiency.

  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support capacity decisions, capital investments, and process improvements.

  • Drive standard cost updates and review cost assumptions with site leadership.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement process improvements in cost accounting workflows and reporting.

  • Maintain and enhance ERP system related to cost accounting.

  • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve transparency of manufacturing costs.

  • Standardize processes across sites where applicable.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and lead a team of cost accountants (1-2 employees).

  • Set clear goals and performance expectations aligned to organizational objectives.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing coaching, and support career development.

  • Allocate resources and prioritize team workload to meet deadlines and business needs.

  • Ensure team adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Build team capability in cost analysis, financial systems, and business partnership skills.

Governance & Controls

  • Maintain strong internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes.

  • Ensure audit readiness and support internal and external audits.

  • Monitor compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to policies and procedures.

Pay Range:

$109,300.00 - $143,430.00

Pay Range Explained:

This role in Boulder, Colorado pays between $109,300.00 and $143,430.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background. Pay may vary in other locations. We offer a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), and paid time off. You’ll also be eligible for quarterly profit-sharing bonuses and flexible spending or savings accounts.
