This role is focused on growth and involves managing key projects to enhance APC's growth strategy, improving capabilities, efficiency, and productivity. You will spearhead communication and business development strategies aimed at expanding our reach to support more athletes, drive revenue, and ensure operational excellence for sustained growth. By fostering strong external relationships and implementing strategic initiatives, you will play a crucial role in positioning APC at the forefront of elite sports performance, particularly as we prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This versatile role requires a strategic thinker with a growth mindset, marketing and business development experience, leadership and communication skills, and knowledge of various work methodologies. You must be adaptable and effective at operating at different levels of engagement.

Job Description

Manage projects across the organization that support the development and execution of the APC’s strategy and operations, including key meeting preparations, follow-ups, data analysis, research, and project management.

Drive key initiatives to support the center’s pivotal role in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, ensuring readiness and strategic alignment.

Support innovation projects throughout the organization.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Develop and manage the marketing assets and collateral for APC, targeting elite sports audiences while ensuring alignment with both the APC brand and Red Bull.

Increase awareness through various communication strategies such as presentations, digital media, social media, public relations, partnerships, events, and email marketing, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Handle external media inquiries and cultivate relationships with key media partners. Oversee and coordinate the organization of APC’s events, including summits and networking events, across different departments.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & GROWTH

Strategically expand the center’s future user base by proactively identifying and engaging potential users. Drive targeted outreach, effectively presenting APC's value proposition through calls, meetings, conferences, and events—while ensuring all outreach aligns with Red Bull’s values and impact.

Also, analyze and manage incoming external opportunities. Understand the needs, challenges, and goals of external athletes, teams, and organizations, and collaborate with APC experts to create interdisciplinary, tailored approaches, conveying information appropriately.

Develop and maintain strong relationships, follow up on opportunities, and advocate for athletes' needs to fuel sustained growth.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Develop processes and working methods to scale and integrate developments within the organization.

Implement and manage a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track business development opportunities. Understand the challenges and goals of Red Bull athletes, as well as external athletes, teams, or organizations, to effectively collaborate with the APC experts and influence the final product.

Oversee contract management, billing, invoicing, and revenue control for external clients. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure growth, athlete satisfaction, and revenue targets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

Proven track record in strategy, business development, marketing, or client/athlete relationship management, preferably within the sports industry.

3+ years of experience in strategy consulting. A strong understanding of the elite sports landscape and athlete performance environments is essential.

Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft suite tools (including Excel and PowerPoint), as well as CRM systems, is required.

Data-driven, detail-oriented, organized, and reliable. Living APC’s core principles of collaboration, passion, integrity, and curiosity is imperative.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
