Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you're capable of?
At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It's a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform - and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we're seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company's hardest problems.
Our work culture is intense and isn't for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there's no better place to be.
While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
Are you excited to build and operate the operational engine that powers the next generation of financial products? Do you thrive on leading teams, optimizing complex workflows, and ensuring flawless execution in a fast-paced, regulated environment? We are looking for an exceptional Manager in our Broker Dealer Operations function, establishing the critical controls and scalable processes required for a regulated trading environment.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep broker-dealer expertise and a builder's mindset, passionate about applying their knowledge at the intersection of traditional finance and the cryptoeconomy. This is a unique opportunity to shape a foundational team and drive operational excellence from the ground up.
What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):
We are building out our Broker Dealer Operations function to support our equities trading product. As a Manager, you will both lead and directly contribute to the day-to-day operational oversight while creating the structure, processes, and controls to scale in a regulated environment.
In this role, you will:
  • Build and manage a high-performing Broker Dealer Operations team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and risk awareness
  • Oversee daily processes including management of exceptions and resolutions, daily cash and position reconciliations, and promptly reconciling breaks, fails, or discrepancies in trades
  • Ensure accurate customer account set-up and maintenance, including KYC/AML onboarding, account updates, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate corporate actions processing in partnership to ensure entitlements are properly allocated and communicated to clients
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Legal to maintain reporting (e.g., CAT, TRACE) accuracy and timeliness
  • Establish and maintain documented internal controls, procedures, and policies
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Finance, Compliance, Product, and Engineering to identify operational requirements for new product launches, process enhancements, and system changes
  • Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and improve service quality
  • Monitor operational and risk metrics, producing regular reporting and insights for leadership

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
  • 7+ years of financial services experience with at least 3+ years in broker-dealer operations; corporate actions experience strongly preferred.
  • FINRA Series 99 or 27.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. equities operational workflows, with knowledge of securities clearing, settlement, margin, and custody.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams, including direct people leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory requirements and reporting practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee third-party vendor relationships and hold partners accountable to SLAs.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable working with both executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Track record of improving processes, implementing controls, and managing operational risk.
  • Comfortable working as a player/coach, balancing leadership duties with hands-on work.

Nice to haves:
  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Experience at a fintech or in building operations functions in high-growth broker-dealer or trading environment.
  • Direct experience with trading supervision, best execution reviews, and the development of trading-related supervisory procedures.
  • Familiarity with tokenization of real world assets (RWA) and securities, blockchain technology, and the broader crypto economy.
  • FINRA Series 7, 24, or willingness to obtain.

As a CX Technical Senior Program Lead at Coinbase, you will shape and deliver the customer support technology roadmap by leading cross-functional initiatives and managing technical programs to enhance customer experiences.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
