About the Team

The Acquisition Integration team is responsible for the integration of acquired companies into Workday. The team is actively involved in the deal process from pre acquisition diligence and planning through post acquisition program management, execution and governance. Given the multi-dimensional nature of acquisitions, we are seeking an experienced results oriented leader with the ability to influence and advise across functions to drive shared objectives and detailed plans.

About the Role

This position offers an opportunity to lead the critical acquisition integration planning and execution responsibilities of future Workday acquisitions. The role will have influence and accountability working alongside functional leaders in the design, prioritization and execution of key activities throughout the lifecycle of a deal. The Acquisition Integration Director demonstrates high proficiency in strategy facilitation, cross functional decision making, overall program management and exhibits operational depth across integration related subject areas. This role will  partner with business leaders and integration specialists in product, technology, sales, services, finance, people & purpose, and other business functions. Important  note: In contrast to a functionally specific integration position where work involves integration of a single function, this is an ideal role for an integration specialist whose competence is cross functional, bringing to bear one’s ability to translate broad business strategy into an execution plan for multiple functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Active participant in diligence of target company in order to design and  lead integration planning in alignment with the overall business strategy

  • Build and lead a holistic integration plan in partnership with the deal sponsor and functional leaders to achieve the deal’s strategic imperatives

  • Objectively assess risk and create effective mitigation plans throughout the deal lifecycle

  • Partner with communication teams to ensure an effective internal and external change program is in place

  • Act as a liaison with the acquired company to facilitate effective alignment with Workday and readiness for integration across all functional areas

  • Drive alignment across key partners and all functional teams

  • Build a repeatable M&A and integration practice that continually improves, simplifies and speeds Workday’s overall performance

  • Measure performance to deal objectives both during and after the integration period and partner with management for accurate alignment where needed. Conduct ad-hoc qualitative and quantitative analyses of feedback data to draw salient insights and actions

About You

You have a passion for architecting solutions for complex acquisition integration programs. You want to work in a highly collaborative, agile environment. You possess a proven track record to work effectively as a manager of cross functional teams through the acquisition integration process and you quickly establish rapport with co-workers at all levels, ultimately acting as a trusted advisor. You possess a high level of comfort with ambiguity, while simultaneously designing structure and organization for teams to produce desired outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of direct experience in M&A execution and integration.

  • 8+ years of experience in leading complex integration programs.

  • Experience working in corporate development, integration strategy, or corporate operations for a publicly traded company or relevant integration consulting experience.

Other Qualifications:
  • Ability to work cross functionally and influence team members.

  • Possess strong and effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to customize approach for a variety of audiences.

  • Commanding knowledge of end to end corporate development activities and proven track record to facilitate sophisticated and time sensitive decisions.

  • Equally proficient in ability to distill sophisticated data and details and translate them into  appropriate messages.

  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in an ambiguous M&A environment.

  • Excellent change skills and a strong desire to use them daily.

  • Ability to optimize relationships, build trust, and turn insights into actionable items.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
