Luminate is seeking a talented consumer insights and market research professional with a foundational understanding of market research, data analysis techniques and strong business acumen for the Insights team.
The Manager, Insights will work as part of an integrated team, supporting multiple ongoing projects.
The role encompasses three core sets of responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end execution of consumer-based research studies including questionnaire design, engagement with partner vendors, fieldwork management, data analysis, and the reporting/presenting of actionable insights in a compelling manner to both internal or external parties
- Lead and/or provide rigorous, high-volume support in data preparation and quality assurance efforts across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring data accuracy and integrity of key client deliverables
- Partner and manage relationships with with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Marketing), setting expectations and communicating progress effectively
This is a full time position for a candidate with survey-based consumer research and data analytics and experience, who is interested in applying their skills in a fast-paced, high-volume entertainment-focused insights and research group. This position will be based in our New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA office.
The Role:
Our Insights Research role requires an organized, highly efficient, and meticulous individual who can successfully support multiple concurrent insights & analytics projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. A strong focus on project execution and administrative diligence is essential to succeed in this role.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Project Management: Lead projects and serve as primary point of contact in coordinating meetings, tracking project deadlines, and liaising with vendors/internal partners to ensure smooth project execution.
- Analysis, Insights, and Reporting: Interpret and analyze large data sets to develop compelling narratives and actionable insights, followed by support for all aspects of report and deliverable production, including formatting, proofreading, and quality assurance.
- Data Preparation & Quality Assurance: Meticulously clean, prepare, and review quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., managing trackers, merging files, ensuring data integrity in Excel/Sheets).
- Survey Programming Support: Developing survey and overseeing the design, programming setup, and rigorous quality testing of surveys on various platforms.
- Commercial Partner: Partner closely with the Commercial team to inform and support new business development opportunities
- Desktop Research & Synthesis: Efficiently sourcing, compiling, and summarizing secondary research to support new business proposals and existing project context.
- Support Marketing Initiatives: Serve as an Insights partner to Marketing, translating consumer behavior for key external-facing initiatives (thought leadership, industry reports, conference material, etc.)
Professional Work Experience:
- Minimum 3–6 years of professional experience in market research focused on consumer insights, with ownership and hands-on responsibility of research projects from design through delivery, including questionnaire development, end-to-end project management, data analysis, and quality assurance. Experience gained within client-side and/or vendor-side research environments.
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where prioritizing competing tasks was necessary.
- Demonstrated experience handling and manipulating large data sets in Q, Microsoft/Google and other statistical toolsets .
Who You Are: (Required Skills & Traits)
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting) and Google Workspace Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) with initial experience working across AI-driven workflows (NotebookLM / Gemini)
- Research Data Analysis: Experience in using crosstabbing software to analyze survey data (e.g. Q, SPSS, IMS Clear Decisions, etc.)
- Operating Discipline – Ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing processes and projects simultaneously
- Data Diligence: Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to perform rigorous quality checks to ensure data integrity/accuracy in the creation of client deliverables.
- Adaptability & Execution: The ability to work with great deal of flexibility in order to swiftly accommodate and prioritize multiple, shifting support requests as they arise, and execute tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with internal and external teams.
- Collaboration: A collaborative, 'can-do' attitude, particularly in relation to working in a matrix organization across virtual teams.
- Self-Starter: Energetic self-starter, who will work with minimal supervision.
- Learning Orientation: Intellectual curiosity, enjoys making discoveries about humans and human behavior, likes hearing new ideas and experimenting with new approaches.
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Experience with statistical/analysis software for data manipulation (e.g., SPSS, R, Displayr, or basic SQL).
- Familiarity with the entertainment, media, or tech industry.
Experience in applying advanced analytics is a plus (i.e. the ability to independently run cluster analysis, max diff, regressions, or other advanced research methodologies)
For candidates based in NYC and California: A good faith estimate of the salary is $75000 upon hire. We consider your skills and experience, what similar jobs pay at companies of our size, and ensure fair pay among colleagues. Final base salary offer amounts are determined by factors including your experience and expertise.
