The Logistics Manager oversees logistics operations, manages a team, negotiates with providers, solves issues, and ensures service quality.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the logistics function, ensuring efficient movement of shipments and maintaining high-quality service standards. The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing a team of logistics coordinators and collaborating with various stakeholders to streamline processes and enhance overall logistics performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the logistics team, providing guidance, training, and support to logistics coordinators to ensure seamless coordination of transportation providers and exceptional customer service.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations, aligning with organizational goals and optimizing processes for efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure adherence to service levels.
- Interface with internal and external customers to address inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure a positive customer experience. Act as a point of escalation for complex logistics matters.
- Oversee the review of purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy, compliance with company policies, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead efforts to track and correct shipping errors, coordinating re-shipments, filing claims, and arranging for necessary repairs or replacements.
- Ensure that the quality of logistics services meets or exceeds required standards, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Monitor carrier performance, address any service issues, and analyze data to implement improvements in logistics processes.
- Stay informed about regional and national shipping markets, track carrier pricing data, and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
- Leverage logistics technology and software to optimize processes, enhance tracking capabilities, and improve overall efficiency.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in logistics management, with a track record of successfully coordinating freight movement and managing logistics teams.
- In-depth knowledge of the shipping market, both regionally and nationally, with the ability to track and analyze carrier pricing data.
- Expert customer service skills to address the needs of customers, resolve issues effectively, and maintain positive relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments simultaneously and ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Familiarity with logistics and transportation management systems.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address logistics challenges and implement effective solutions.
