Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation Management: Oversee the end-to-end logistics process for air freight and long-haul ground transportation of radio tracer materials, ensuring timely, safe, and compliant delivery.

  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with air freight carriers, ground transportation providers, and other logistics partners. Negotiate competitive rates and ensure reliable service.
  • Shipment Coordination: Coordinate the pickup, transport, and delivery of critical radio tracer shipments, providing clear communication with internal teams, including material management, and external stakeholders (e.g., customers, regulatory bodies).
  • Problem-Solving & Last-Mile Management: Address any last-minute changes or challenges, providing alternative solutions and ensuring on-time, compliant deliveries, especially for time-sensitive shipments with short half-lives.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records for all shipments, including shipping documents, regulatory compliance certifications, and communication logs. Provide regular reports to management regarding transportation metrics, cost savings, and service performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the logistics and transportation functions and recommend strategies for enhancing efficiency and reducing costs while maintaining compliance.
  • Training & Development: Provide guidance and support to internal teams on best practices for hazardous material shipping, regulatory requirements, and any specific challenges related to radio tracer transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in logistics management, with a focus on air freight, long-haul ground transportation, and hazardous material management. Experience in the transportation of radioactive materials is highly preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of 21 CFR 212, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and other relevant regulations governing the transportation of hazardous and radioactive materials.

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex logistics operations and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  •  Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure the best rates and services for transportation.
  • Ability to manage time-sensitive shipments and handle last-minute changes while ensuring compliance.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Additional certifications in hazardous material handling or transportation compliance (e.g., IATA, DOT) are a plus.

 Other:

  • Ability to travel within the US and Canada as required.
  • Detail-oriented and focused on compliance and safety.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to communication and collaboration.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
