Localization Proofreader I

In this role, you can expect to be responsible for:

• Quality Assurance:
• Review Korean-to-English translations for accuracy.
• Record any errors found for internal metric reporting.


• Consistency and Style:
• Maintain consistency in terminology and formatting throughout all localized materials, ensuring alignment with established glossaries and translation memories.
• Ensure that any special translation rules such as character limits or formatting requirements are followed.


• Contextual Accuracy:
• Confirm that translations are accurate for the context in which they will be used, either by personal best judgment or by consulting with editors, translators, or developers.


• Localization Testing Support:
• Review game scripts during localization quality assurance testing rounds to ensure consistency across text from multiple translation batches and confirm that all requested revisions have been made and applied.


• Review of Graphics and Assets:
• Participate in the review of localized graphics, images, or assets to ensure they are contextually appropriate and free from errors.


• Feedback and Revisions:
• Provide constructive feedback to the translation team or editors, suggesting revisions and improvements to enhance the quality of the localized content.


• Collaboration:
• Collaborate with other members of the localization team, including translators, editors, and project managers, to address questions and maintain effective communication throughout the localization process.
• This proofreader role may occasionally require ad-hoc translation work as needed.

To be successful in this role, your background includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant major or previous professional localization experience.
• Fluency in Korean and English.
• Entry-level candidates or those with 1-3 years of relevant translation/proofreading experience.
• Strong attention to detail and an eye for linguistic nuances.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to specific platform requirements and adhere to established style guides.
• Experience in quality assurance, translation and proofreading is a plus.
• Familiarity with games and the terminology used in them.
• Comfortable working independently.
