The Buy Side from WSJ's editorial team is Dow Jones's reviews and recommendations site which is dedicated to helping consumers make smart decisions about how to spend their time and money. This is independent of The Wall Street Journal newsroom.

About the Role:

The Buy Side from WSJ is seeking an ambitious and energetic journalist for its loans team. We are looking for someone who can focus specifically on loan topics that affect American consumers in their daily lives. We write data-driven articles about loan options that can help consumers reach their financial goals. The Loans Writer will ensure that articles meet high quality standards of journalism while responsibly guiding readers as they make decisions about borrowing money.

The candidate must have experience writing articles on auto, personal, student and business loan topics, and enjoy breaking down sometimes complicated topics in a way that is interesting, accurate, relevant and distinctive.

The successful candidate will have experience reporting on all or most of these topics: student loans, auto loans, personal loans and business loans.

You Will:
  • Write articles on loan topics that are relevant for WSJ subscribers.
  • Ensure that sources/sourcing are appropriate for the topic.
  • Collaborate with the editorial and commerce teams on article lineups for future months to ensure relevancy for the WSJ audience.
  • Have an understanding of the WSJ.com audience to ensure articles are properly serving our audience's needs.
  • Work proactively with partners in the spirit of providing useful service to readers.
  • Write polished, clear prose that balances sensitivity with expertise.
  • Work well under pressure and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Be meticulous in copy and ambitious in reporting, ensuring accuracy and depth in all coverage.
  • Recommend linking opportunities to recent WSJ news articles where topics align.
  • Ensure accuracy and journalistic standards for all content.
You Have:
  • 3+ years of reporting or personal finance content writing experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, while delivering quality content.
  • Fluency in consumer finance and loan topics.
  • A track record of writing unique, engaging financial stories.
  • A knack for finding unique angles off the news.
  • Familiarity with affiliate revenue operations and search engine optimization is preferred.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000
