Position SummaryARPS is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Loans & Distributions Specialist to support the administration of qualified retirement plans. This role is responsible for coordinating participant loan and distribution activity, ensuring timely and accurate processing while maintaining compliance with ERISA and plan regulations.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience processing retirement plan loans and distributions across multiple recordkeepers and brokerage platforms and will be comfortable managing requests from initiation through completion. Experience with plan terminations, automatic rollovers, and participant communications is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and process participant distributions and loan requests for qualified retirement plans accurately and efficiently
- Communicate with plan sponsors, participants, recordkeepers, and internal teams regarding loan and distribution activity
- Review loan applications and prepare promissory notes and amortization schedules
- Track loan and distribution requests from initiation through completion
- Maintain accurate documentation and transaction records while ensuring compliance with plan provisions and regulatory requirements
- Assist with plan termination distributions and automatic rollover processes
- Work across multiple retirement plan recordkeepers and brokerage platforms to facilitate processing and resolve issues
- Support internal teams with participant and operational inquiries related to loans and distributions
- Ensure all processing adheres to ERISA guidelines and retirement plan regulations
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency
- Proven experience processing loans and distributions for qualified retirement plans
- Strong understanding of ERISA rules and regulations related to retirement plan loans and distributions
- Familiarity with multiple retirement plan recordkeepers and their loan/distribution procedures
- Experience with plan terminations and automatic rollover processes preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft 365
- Familiarity with Ft. William Plan Documents and Compliance Systems is a plus, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate basic math calculations
- Excellent organizational and documentation management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a deadline-driven environment
Candidates with prior retirement industry experience and direct exposure to qualified plan loan and distribution processing will be strongly preferred. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, organization, and responsiveness in a fast-paced client service environment.
