Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond.

Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space.

We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the RoleThis entry-level Loads & Dynamics Engineer I role offers the opportunity to learn directly from experienced engineers while contributing to projects in dynamic environments and structural dynamics. The position involves performing first-order analysis, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing technical documentation and reports. The role rewards clear communication skills, curiosity and openness to mentorship, and a collaborative approach to achieving project goals and meeting deadlines.
In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers in the analysis and evaluation of loads and dynamics for aerospace systems, gaining hands-on exposure to how experienced professionals approach dynamic environments data. You will perform first-order analysis using basic aerospace principles, standards, theories, and concepts — building your technical foundation with guidance from engineers who can walk you through their reasoning and approach. Additionally, you will prepare technical documentation and reports to communicate findings effectively. Working collaboratively with team members, you will learn how projects come together while contributing to project goals and deadlines. You will also develop your ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, both verbally and in writing, as you grow alongside the team.About You

  • Internship or co-op experience in an aerospace or related engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering software tools such as MATLAB, NASTRAN, or similar.
  • Interest in or exposure to AI-related engineering tools (e.g., for scripting, data processing, or report drafting) and an understanding of their uses and limitations.
  • Understanding of shock, random vibration, acoustics, and their impact on aerospace systems.
  • Experience with structural dynamics and its application in aerospace engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a dynamic work environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
