This is a hybrid role based in our Los Angeles or Bay Area offices and will require you to be in office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What’s so interesting about this role?

Managing Grindr’s (NYSE: GRND) litigation portfolio offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues at the intersection of technology, privacy, free expression, and LGBTQ+ rights. As a global platform with a highly engaged community, Grindr faces high-stakes legal challenges across U.S. and international jurisdictions where every case has real-world impact and often raises novel questions. This role allows you to shape litigation strategy, protect a beloved brand, and contribute to a mission-driven company that connects and empowers millions of LGBTQ+ people worldwide.

We're seeking an exceptional lawyer to lead this critical area of our legal portfolio and serve as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders, including executives. In addition to managing a diverse litigation portfolio and driving day-to-day litigation strategy, you will provide counseling to help mitigate future legal risks. Over time, you may also have the opportunity to expand into and take ownership of other areas of our legal work. You’ll be joining a lean, fast-paced team where every member plays a key role in advancing Grindr’s mission.

What’s the job?

  • Manage and oversee a wide variety of litigation matters, including commercial, employment, intellectual property, privacy, user harm, and consumer protection disputes.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with external counsel, driving case strategy, budgeting, and efficient resolution of disputes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product, Trust & Safety, Privacy, and Communications—to assess legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential litigation exposure.

  • Advise internal teams on pre-litigation disputes, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations.

  • Lead efforts to identify trends and recurring legal issues to improve policies, practices, and compliance.

  • Report to our VP of Legal.

What we'll love about you

  • JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • 7+ years of litigation experience, with at least 3 years at a top-tier law firm; in-house experience at a consumer technology company strongly preferred.

  • Substantial experience managing complex litigation, regulatory investigations, and dispute resolution.

  • Strong knowledge of privacy, platform liability, IP, and/or consumer protection issues is a plus.

  • Excellent judgment, communication and leadership skills, and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance in fast-moving situations.

  • Comfortable contributing hands-on to daily execution and proactively managing multiple priorities in a lean, high-performing environment.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal cross-functional partners.

What you'll love about us

  • Mission and Impact: Grindr is building the global gayborhood in your pocket. Your role will impact the lives of millions of LGBTQ+ people around the world. Through our success, we are making a world where the lives of our community are free, equal, and just.

  • Family Insurance: Insurance premium coverage for health, dental, and vision for you and partial coverage for your dependents.

  • Retirement Savings: Generous 401K plan with 6% match and immediate vest in the U.S.

  • Compensation: Industry-competitive compensation and eligibility for company bonus and equity programs.

  • Queer-Inclusive Benefits: Industry-leading gender-affirming offerings with up to 90% cost coverage, access to Included Health, monthly stipends for HRT, and more.

  • Additional Benefits: Flexible vacation policy, monthly stipends for cell phone, internet, wellness, food, and commuting, breakfast/lunch provided onsite, and yearly travel & leisure stipend.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
